I found that the bright red colour of these Scarlet Elfcups set against the lush green of the carpet of moss made for such a striking image. For me this photograph was especially relevant to the brief as I thought it captured the diversity of both shape and colour in the world of fungi. Thank you for entering your image!

I love the range of depth, colour and texture in this image; the warm leaves in the foreground, the sunlit woodland background, and even a spider’s web in between! To me, these layers framed the Coral fungus perfectly. Thank you for entering your image!

I was struck by how effortless this image appeared, despite the preparation that went into capturing the exact moment this Puffball released its spores. I also thought the photograph was enhanced with the magical atmosphere of bokeh. Thank you for submitting your image!

With the fern frond framing the polypore, the detail of the beech leaf as well as the bokeh, this image seemed to me to capture a beautiful forest scene. I also thought the Beefsteak fungus itself was portrayed perfectly with the red droplets suspended from the pores! Thank you for submitting your image!

I would love to see your colour photos of any type of fungi that does not have gills. This could be fungus with pores instead of gills such as boletes, stinkhorns and puffballs, or any of the so-called spore-shooters like morels or coral fungi. Please only enter colour images. I look forward to seeing your photos that capture the diversity of shape or colour in the world of fungi.
