I kept coming back to this shot for my theme of garden birds, there was something about it that just kept drawing me in but I wasn’t sure what it was until I realised it was the idea to shoot in lowlight - life for garden birds is a struggle and the contrast of the lowlight and highlights on the blackbird (almost like hope for the future) I feel represented the theme garden birds really well.
Well Done
what a lovely little capture and great for the theme garden birds often we may just think of the tits and songbirds as our garden birds but forget the magpie has become quite common in the garden setting. They’re great to watch and will enjoy visiting for a good meal. I also think they’re quite comical. The picture works well in b&w

just love the contrast of this shot. the little bird at the back of the feeder peering through gives this almost comical feel but it also brings to mind the stark reality of life as a garden bird The others looking around, watching for potential dangers really does highlight the daily struggle of our garden birds My only personal suggestion - make use of the hashtags as it deserves to be seen but it’s perfect for the theme garden birds.
Well Done
I was instantly drawn to this shot as my envisagement for the theme of garden birds and knew I had to have it in my top 10.
So often the blackbird is a regular garden visitor but perhaps over looked due to a lack of colour or markings in its plumage but with your brilliant mid air capture you’ve given this little humble bird its crowning glory 👑
Well Done - very well deserved first place

I would like to see your photos of all the varieties of garden birds that may visit your garden (except robins), especially those attracted with feeders or food during winter months. The birds can be on feeders, in bird baths or maybe you have you captured them having a bit of a bicker together. No people in the photos, eg people hand feeding the birds, as I would like the garden birds to be the focus of your photo. In my judging creativity will be rewarded and new photos are appreciated. Please no photos of robins and no photos of dead birds. I look forward to seeing your entires.
