Go wide!

Brief

In this Canon-only contest, we want to see your best shots taken exclusively with wide-angle lenses. 50mm on a full frame camera or 35mm on an APS-C one will give you the 'standard' focal length with a similar angle-of-view to the human eye, so we want to see images taken with any focal length wider than this 50mm (or 50mm equivalent) standard. This could be the 18mm end of your 18-55mm kit lens, a 24mm, 35mm or even a super-wide angle lens like an 8mm fisheye. They're fantastic for landscapes but also great to add extra surroundings to portraits to add context, architecture, cityscapes and street shots - we can't wait to see how wide you go.

Read the 'Brief in detail' tab for image requirements.

The judges' first 3 photos will win a download for Affinity Photo for PC or Mac desktop worth £48.99, and your picture will have a chance of being published in PhotoPlus magazine, as we'll print our favourite top ten!

DO: Ensure your photo was taken on a Canon camera. Have EXIF data in your photo (or supply the camera settings in the info section). Provide a title for your photo. Write a description of the photo you're entering of at least 50 words to give us the background of what the image is of and how it was taken. A little context can go a long way! Check your photo has a resolution of at least 3000 pixels on the longest edge of the photo as we will be printing our top picks in PhotoPlus magazine.

DO NOT: Have a watermark on your photograph. Supply images taken on camera systems other than Canon. Submit low-resolution pics

How it works

Every photo submitted will be available for the crowd to rate once the submissions period has ended. You can see all the images uploaded to a contest, but will need to rate them to see how they’re ranked once the rating period begins.

Some contests on Photocrowd also have a judge. After the submission period closes the judge chooses their favourite images and writes some image reviews. The crowd and judge results will be announced on the same day.
