August 2025

I love the treatment on this, and you have captured the whole scene wonderfully, which creates a very poignant image, very reflective of the Vatican.

The tones throughout the image are great, and that lovely warmth from the ceiling and the depth of the dark sides draw the viewer's eye towards the back of the image, almost like a natural vignette.

A lovely graphic image, the solid lines framing the image do a wonderful job of bringing the viewer's eyes towards the girl in the centre and the warm treatment works really well to tie it all together and create a nice atmosphere throughout the image.

I do find the four lots of lights on either side distracting. I think removing those would make an even stronger image, as it would remove all distractions, but a fantastic image!

I love the dark, moody treatment on this one, it makes it really stand out from the other entries and gives it an almost film noir vibe with just the right amount of colour in there to make it not the predictable black and white gothic image..

I would have liked to have seen the nave central in the frame just to get some perspective and stronger leading lines in the image but it's a great shot!

**This contest is open to photographers ranked between 251 and 1000 in this week’s Leaderboard.** This interiors contest is focussing on styles and methods of the past. We could say that that encompasses a broad time period up to and including the 1960s, so we might see a shot of a mediaeval banqueting hall, alongside a Pop-art-inspired living space complete with ball chair and lava lamp.
