I simply had to commend this one as it took me 'right back out there' This really sums up British Point to Pointing! I like the depth of field that you have chosen it really picks up on the rain in front of the further horse without that the weather would not be so obvious. You have managed to maintain focus on the main subject but still show movement. It is an excellent study. I hope you have now dried out?
I really have no idea what is going here but it is obvious these lads are 'off to the races' and I was anxious to include all types of horse racing in my judging. This image catches the atmosphere so well, technically it is well executed including enough background and other detail to place the horses in context. Well done.
This fun entry has everything; the position of the subject in front of an iconic racing landmark is perfectly timed. The jockey's silent celebration and the satisfied expression of the handler could not have been caught more perfectly. The depth of field is good keeping the main interest on the horse and jockey but not losing the statue. Altogether a well executed entry. Thank you.
I judge my contests anonymously, so I hesitated to include this in my Top Ten as it is obviously by the same entrant as my Winner, however, it is such an outstanding entry I simply couldn't ignore it. There is nothing to be said except I wish I had it in my portfolio! I do hope this goes on to win many contests. It is just fabulous ...
I kept being drawn back to this one. I'm afraid it shows the side of racing that doesn't appeal to me but it is so well executed. The depth of field is excellent and the focus on the main subject is spot on. It just sneaked into my Top Ten because I was looking for quirky little details that can be spotted on a race course and this certainly fits the bill. Well done.

This contest is for your photos of any aspect of horse racing. It can be any type of horse racing such as National Hunt, point-to-point, flat, harness, or even Shetland pony racing. Anything goes as long as it is obviously connected to the world of horse racing. Portraits and paddock shots are also welcome as long as they have been taken at a meeting on a race course. Photos can be in colour or black and white. I look forward to seeing your entries and I hope you have some fun with this contest.

This so nearly made my Top Ten. It is such a brave crop and you have really caught the action. The colours are good and you have managed to keep some detail in the sky. It really is an excellent racing picture - the only slight criticism I have is in the post processing, perhaps you would consider taking the sharpening down just a little, in my opinion it would make for a more natural, softer image which probably would have pushed it into my Top Ten. Thank you for entering the contest.
This is a quite remarkable shot, having been taken with a 50mm lens! The depth of field and the focus are both excellent. I love the colours and the sheer energy that you have captured at this tense time in a race, the expressions say it all. You have inspired me to try a prime lens when I next go to the races!
