this shot of a mountain hare on the move is my winner of this competition the photographer has captured the essence of these beautiful mammal's as it runs through the snow. the shot is crisp with good detail in what i suspect would have been difficult bright light conditions. Composition is spot on and i love the eye contact whilst the contrast between the white of the hare and the snow is well done in post processing. Well done and congratulations to the winner for an excellent shot of this mountain hare .
This shot of the rare and elusive male Capercaillie caught my eye immediately as it depicts the true natural environment these "horses of the forest" are to be found in Scotland The bird stands out is pin sharp around the eye and the shot has not been over processed. simply an excellent shot that is a deserved 2nd place and was narrowly pipped at the post

As you would expect red deer were a popular choice of iconic Scottish wildlife for this competition and for me this image stood out for me as my favourite. Composition and the use of the landscape in a misty glen captures the young stag in typical pose. Contrast in light and dark draws the viewer to the subject and post processing has been well executed. delighted to award this shot 4th in this competition.
