This is great and a nice side profile that is very well spotted and composed. The natural shadow and lighting makes this work for me by adding an almost 3D quality to the face. Nature has also done it's bit and weathered this rock outcrop really well. Well done seeing this.

There are some great faces in here and alot of photographic potential for a revisit

This is great, I can see 'the scream'

This was great, almost a classic artistic pose as well

Why do I think of John F Kennedy when I look at this? nice photo and well spotted

This is really great and was so close to my top 10 so well done with spotting this. It really does look like a bird's head or even a dolphin and is really impressive

This was in and out of my top 10 but ended up staying in. The two eyes and the bold colours and patterns of the two faces make it for me as something unique and original. Are they kissing? who knows but it's a really well spotted and edited photo that brings out the textures in the rock very well. Nice work!

This is great, I see the strained faces of multiple screaming tortured souls all pushing and shoving against each other in a living nightmare scrambling to escape from some unknown inferno....or maybe I just overthought this!

Columnar basalt is fascinating at any time but this weathering takes it to another level. Nice spotting and well exposed. Great work

This is such a great side view of a lady with her hair blowing in the wind in a slot canyon. The natural shadows in the rock are just where you would like them to be to make this work. The composition and focus are also great, so a well taken photo. Well done.

I live near Brimham rocks and have also photographed this rock a few times- It's a great character with a flat cap on that you have spotted well. I would have liked to see some detail in the sky rather than all white

This is a great bit of weathered rock. The strong overhead sun was the perfect time of day to take this as all the shadows fell in exactly the right places to make this a winner. Well done spotting this while out hiking in the hills.

This is exactly what I was hoping to discover when looking for faces in the rocks. A perfectly proportioned side on head shape and even the trees making for a perfect hairstyle. It's a great taken photo as well with a wonderful sky, side lighting, sharp focus and balanced composition. It was easy for me to pick this out as my winner, I love everything about it.

I managed to track down the location with google so I now know it's real and not AI generated! Now I want to go there on holiday and see it for myself. Great work!

Meet the judge

This is great as well but loved your colour one more

This is a great rock face and I'm sure there would have been several other composition angles that would have also worked. The eyebrows, nose and mouth make it for me. It must have been great to spot this impressive rock

A laughing wolf yes, but I also see a man in a green shirt and with a big nose sitting down in the shade behind a black and red rock, having a rest on a scorching hot day with the sun just catching his right ear. Great photo. The side profile of his nose and chin remind me of a resemblance with our new UK prime minister?

Very well spotted

The colours and sharpness are spot on and it's a great photo- well done

I love this one, it's such a great expression and it's amazing the way nature can erode solid rock to have such character. This made my top 10 because I would have loved to have found this rock while out walking and it has loads of photographic potential. It's a face you can stare at and smile.

This is great but I preferred the angle and expression on your other entry

This is a beauty that you can return to view over and over and the image still makes you smile. Like you said in your description, it would be better to go back again with a tripod then you could get a bit more depth of field sharpness, especially in the forehead area and eyes that are not quite sharp. For me, it is a perfect 'face in a rock' character .

I would love to see your best photos of rock outcrops where the face or profile of a person or animal could possibly be seen with a little bit of creative imagination. I am looking forward to seeing your entries.

This is a real beauty that I would have been thrilled to spot in the wild. A very realistic face profile with a well thought out crop/composition. I would have liked to see super sharp focus over the nose/eye area and it would have been in my top 10. Nice work!

The Elephant rock is such an amazing rock formation. Some landscape orientation images were also entered which I preferred over the portrait orientation here as I felt they gave a little more context but this had the best colour and sharpness of them

Subtle at first but when spotted comes alive with the two faces on a longer view. Colours and exposure are great. With some bold cropping in of just the central area it could have made the top 10 as they make a great husband and wife.

This was originally in my top 10. I loved the sweeping hillside and artistic composition in B&W but unfortunately as more and more entries came in to the competition it became one I had to drop down slightly- sorry about that

This is great, the eye hole makes it

This is a brilliant spot of a man in a hat side on. Almost made the top for the character but I felt there was more photographic potential to be tried from this location- long exposures or less harsh lighting and maybe zoomed in a bit could have made a stunning image
