Inside places we love

A mesmerising and dazzlingly confusing image that is both about colour and shape and light all at the same time. Nicely seem and well-framed this image is vaguely architectural but relies on a seemingly randomness of squares that means one can survey it in a number of ways simultaneously. Wonderful.

What really makes this image stand out is the 'bend' of the photographer trying to make an image. However, as well seen as this is, the movement is lost within the larger tableau of the hall and the artwork. This would seem as case where 'getting it all in' really works against the moment as photograph and I think a judicious crop (in camera of course...) would have made a much stronger frame. Again though, well seen.

There is an image in here - and the moment is sensed - but not fully explored. I really enjoy the framing and the out-of-focus barmaid (?) 'leads' us well into the picture but the background, certainly above her with the sign, detracts greatly from the main focus of the other figure. A lower angle and a more judicious and perhaps tighter framing would have helped but I like the idea so keep pushing

**This contest is open to photographers ranked between 251 and 1000 in this week’s Leaderboard.** What are those places that we love? Maybe your bathroom, with the radio on in the shower, or bubbles piled high in the bath? Your favourite restaurant, where you keep having the same dish, even though you do still take some time to look at the menu before ordering. Maybe it’s a grand museum that inspires you, or your garden shed, where you have everything in perfect order, or not! Maybe this is interiors photography, maybe it’s portraiture or still life. But most of all it’s about the feeling you have for these spaces and places.
