ACTION#5TH place. Yes, the perfect ascent and he's got the fish! Stunning capture of the movement of the water too. You must have been exceptionally patient to get this shot and most likely after lots of practice. I love having a go at kingfishers fishing and still trying to perfect my technique. Congratulations for your efforts.

PORTRAIT#3RD place goes to this beautiful shot of two gorgeous little malachites. They are very small birds as you know, and you've made them appear much bigger than they actually are, (courtesy of your 600mm no doubt) and two for the price of one! I know how speedily malachites scoot along the rivers in Africa, so well done for capturing them in such detail.
PORTRAIT#2ND. Thanks for your entries Andy, you are clearly a very accomplished wildlife photographer and many thanks for sharing some of your wonderful Kingfishers. This one I like very much, the clarity of the colours is stunning, and that fish is pretty enormous for that little beak! Congratulations
ACTION#3RD place for this much closer view of the action. You must have been quite close @140MM. Nice wing detail and water detail. Fish slightly OOF but I'll let you you off as its a powerful image overall. The orange of the wing and body of the bird is really nice, you can almost reach out and touch the bird. Good job.

So, how many of you have risen to the challenge of capturing a Kingfisher in flight, diving, fishing or just plain sitting? As you know getting sharp shots of Kingfishers sitting let alone in action is really hard, patient photography - if you're up for the challenge or have some nice captures already - please share the results. The brief is clarity, sharpness, lovely blues and reds, plenty of action if you have, but all poses welcome. Good luck
