All the images in my Top 3 had a strong argument for taking the top spot. This image has a real wow factor about it, and I love the daring composition that sees the lake take up so much of the frame. I also love the perfect balance between the reflected mountains, and the view we get through the water to the stoney lake-bed (was a polarising filter being used?) Great shot.
I've really enjoyed judging this New Joiners 'Landscapes' contest, which has some very strong images in it, and my winner is this understated but (to me) extremely pleasing study of a barn. I love the trees on the ridge disappearing into the clouds, and the gorgeous hues of the autumnal trees. The colours are subtle but retain a vibrancy, and the whole is very much stronger than the parts.

This is a very high quality image, and I've had the pleasure of being able to see the full sized file within our judging system - there is a LOT of detail in this image. The stairs and building on the right add a lovely bit of interest and story to the image, and the contrast levels feel just right.
