Great contest!

I love this photo! Your choice of background and the way the color of your sphere compliments the green ladder of the tower is just perfect. However in terms of composition, I would personally spin near the bottom of the ladder, that way the story would be "check this out... an orb tumbled down the tower's ladder". Other than that, it's an excellent lightpainting and I loooove the location! Thank you for participating and congratulations!

This is what i have in mind when I think of excellent lightpainting photos: a killer nightscape working as the background, excellent skills on orbs and spheres and some complimentary lightblading! Everything done in one minute (give or take) whith a low ISO and very little noise. Check-check-check... you've nailed it! If I had to get all nitpicky about your photo I would probably work on a higher aperture just because your skills are excellent and this would make each stroke of your "brush" crisp, thin and precise with very little highlighting at the edges. However all in all this is a great photo! Thank you for participating and congratulations!

This is an amazing lightpainting. Your steelwool spining technique is near perfect and the yellow-orange of your burning stelwool really compliments the colour of the "burning" night sky. I also love the contrast between the light-lines created by the burning steelwool bits and pieces flying off the orb, and the dark lines of the branches of the trees above. This makes for a very cohesive image in which your light painting really elevates your choice of nightscape. This photo would be my first choice if the orb was closer to your camera... although I understand why you kept a safe distance. Thank you for participating and congratulations.

This is one of my favorite photos. Despite the fact that not all lightpainters where perfect in their technique, the location acting as the background, the fact that this was a common effort and certainly the reflection for me really make up for any imperfections. Next time you all meet up try to have a dress code so that everyone dresses in total black! Thank you for your participation and congratulations! I really enjoyed your photo!

This is one of my favorite photos. In my opinion lightpainting should be used to elevate and create an airy feeling in nightscapes and this is excactly what you've done here. Despite the fact that the sphere itself is not perfectly executed, the positioning of your sphere in the middle of the gazebo and the fact that it shines all the blue colors along the sealing roof of the strusture really tells a story! That could be that "an energy orb made an appearance tonight out of the blue" or even "aliens visited the neighbourhood park"! All in all a great photo! Thank you for participating and congratulations!

This is another one of my favorites! I love the strobe plexiglass action serving as the core of the sphere, combined with the wiggly orange plexiglas action on the edges. This combo really makes the sphere pop, kind of like a living cell!! It really feels alive! Also your choice of apperture (f9) compliments your mad lightpainting skills because they provide very little highlighting in the areas your lines overlap, which is excellent! The only thing missing for me is a mystical urban background like the bottom of a bridge or a dark tunnel serving as the bacjground. However this photo really shows that your lightpainting skills are phenomenal! Thank you for participating and congratulations!

One of the most basic shapes anyone attempts to make once they have tried light painting is the orb or sphere. Either with a simple LED light hung by a rope or with the use of more elaborate tools like lightswords or plexiglass blocks, the sphere is always compelling and attractive not to mention an interesting addition to any night landscape. In this contest I want to see your photos showing different orb creating techniques as well as your choice of dark backgrounds serving as a camvas for your light painting.
