I don't really know what I'm looking at, but for an abstract that makes it that much better. I'm curious if this is the original image or if some of the effects were achieved in post processing. A true phantasmagoria of colours! Great effort.

This was not an easy contest to judge since abstract art is so subjective. I'm sure another judge would end up with a completely different top 10.

There were a lot of oil in water macro shots, but this one stood out for me because of its simplicity and subtle colour scheme. I love the way the red and yellow colours reverse in the oil bubbles. Well done and a worthy first place finish. Congratulations.

There were a lot of submissions using some form of water drops. This one stood out to me because you managed to turn a standard water drop image into an amazing colourful abstract.. I presume some post processing was involved to create the background effect. Either way, it's very impressive work.

There were various entries using ink and water, and this one was definitely my favourite. It's not easy to achieve good results with this technique (the ink tends to have a mind of its own). The focus on the "flower" is spot on, with the muted slightly out of focus background creating a nice fantasy world. And rotating the image adds a bit more abstraction. Very well done.

There were many abstract images submitted using reflections on water. This one caught my eye because its a bit more subtle. The deep blues combined with the golden yellows work well together and the diagonal placement of the yellows gives a nice balance to the shot. Well done!

I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking at, but I like the result. A great combination of colours, and the swirl effect is well done. Knowing how hard it is to work with liquids, this is first class and a worthy top 10 finish.

This image isn't quite what I was thinking of when I proposed the contest. Certainly a different kind of liquid abstract. The concept is well conceived and the end result is impressive. The focus on the thistle is spot on, but the star of the shot is the background spray. Very well done!

Liquids offer lots of opportunities for creating dynamic abstract images, especially when combined with macro photography. Don't restrict yourself to just coloured water. Milk, oil, inks, dyes, and paint can all be used with great results. I look forward to your submissions.
