A wonderfully powerful image. It certainly helps having such a charismatic subject that the photographer knows the value of; which is why he/she has homed in on the singer with a long lens, in order to capture the sweat and energy of the performer. The lighting really brings out the muscles, tattoos and long sweaty hair. The decisive moment has been captured as he screams open-mouthed into the microphone. But what really makes the image for me is how the rock star has been framed by the audience's hands (showing that iconic hard rock two-fingered symbol) shooting up into the air from the crowd around him perfectly. A great image that's a worthy winner - congratulations!

I love the energy and edginess of this photograph. The three performers each in their own worlds as they let rip; and of course the singer on the left, leaping up and almost out of the frame is what is so striking. It's like he is about to hit the roof - literally!. The fact that it's in black and white somehow enhances that basement punk-rock/rap feel to the image. I also like how there is an outstretched pair of arms appearing from the right of the frame to give us a bit of context to show that it's in some small, sweaty basement club. Congratulations on a great image!

**This contest is open to photographers ranked between 251 and 1000 in this week’s Leaderboard.** Capturing the raw energy and emotion of live music can be a joy, and many photographers are drawn to it. As well as the musicians themselves, the live music scene is rich with colourful characters, crowds and venues. Photographing live music comes with its challenges - not least, balancing the lubrication of one’s creative faculties, with still being able to operate your camera.

Sometimes when you photograph a concert, it's good to step back and see the bigger picture to capture it perfectly, as many concerts and gigs are just as much about the spectacle as the actual music/performance. In this case the performer is brilliantly captured; his little body isolated by spotlights aimed at him from all angles, covered in a snowstorm of ticker tape. The light hitting the outstretched arms of the adoring fans at the very bottom of the frame, completes this well crafted image. Although i can't help feeling a landscape shape rather than a square image would have been even more powerful. A wonderful image none-the-less. Well done!

I love how the photographer has waited for that iconic rock guitar moment where the performer has assumed the classic wide-legged stance with guitar at crotch-level; before he/she has made sure to have a slow shutter speed to perfectly and artistically capture the hair in full flight as the ritual head-banging accompanies the guitar solo. The green smoky backdrop adds to the striking quality of the image. Well done!
