This is extremely clever, enabling the viewer to get the sense of a procession slivering its way through a crowd like a snake. The result here is very subtle, but it's highly effective and really draws the eye. The fact that all else is sharp is vital.

Composition and technique come together perfectly here to create a compelling image that makes fine use of a long exposure. The image of an individual isolated from others, absorbed by mobile technology, is one we can all relate to. Very striking indeed.

Well, this won't be too everyone's taste - but good photography is necessarily meant to be crowd-pleasing. The lights, the rain, the sense of reality distorted are all very captivating, and it seems to be a still taken from a dream. This demonstrates how a slow shutter speed can be used to creative effect.

Long exposures create an other-worldly feel, and typically require the use of stabilisation and filters in order to achieve the required effect. However, these effects are very widely known now, and so it's really important to ensure that your work stands out. With this in mind, we want to see your very best long exposures - subject matter doesn't matter, provided a long exposure is an integral part of the image.
