Long Exposure Seascapes with Water Motion

January 2021

You picked an excellent shutter speed for everything to gel nicely in this shot. The soft pastel colors captured in the sky are very nice and the water motion is perfectly timed to give this a Top 10 finish. I like that you chose to center the pier as well to give a sense of symmetry of the moving water. Congrats on a job well done!

I love the DOF you used on this image to keep all of the wood pillars nice and sharp. The motion of the water is subdued but it works perfectly with this shot. The colors are nice and vibrant as well. Congrats on your Top 10 finish!

Very nice work capturing the ice here and I love how the motion of the water around the ice is displayed. The 3 second shutter speed works well here to capture the motion of the water coming into the beach. Congrats on your Top 10 finish!

Outstanding job with this shot. This is exactly what I envisioned when choosing to have a seascape contest. Everything is captured perfectly and the colors are very pleasant to the eye as well. The coupling of the waves coming in and the silkiness of the water on the beach make this the clear number 1 pick. Congratulations!

The subtleness of the water coming on the beach and the beautiful warm colors really make this image jump. You also did a very nice job exposing or bringing out the shadows on the pier while being backlit from the sun. Very nice work and congrats on your Top 10 finish!

The streaks of water coming up on the beach really do push this image to the top. Very nice job blending everything together and controlling the shadows and highlights as well to keep everything nicely balanced! Congrats on your Top 10 finish!

I really like the long shutter speed you chose for this shot to give it a mystical fog type look in the channel. The colors of the moss also contrast the rock very nicely and are pleasing to the eye. The water motion coupled with the swirly pattern and sharpness you maintained throughout the shot makes this a Top 10 image. Congrats!

For this contest I would like to see your seascape photos that show the motion of the water captured using a slow shutter speed. Please include a foreground of land or rocks in the shot to help accent the movement. Please ensure you use a slow shutter speed to blur and soften the movement of the water. Colour or black and white images are both acceptable. I look forward to seeing what you can produce.

This is a gorgeous capture of the abandoned boat. The blending of the ocean and sky is perfect and I really like the shutter speed you chose to give it an almost foggy like ghostly appearance. Very nice work overall and congrats on your Top 10 finish!
