This was one of the first images I viewed when scrolling through all 800 and it stuck with me the entire way as a benchmark. The detail in this photograph is stunning, and the depth from front to back is really incredible. What I enjoy most about this image is the complexity of the waterfall, but the utter simplicity of the foreground. The image is a real tale of two halves, and somehow despite the raging and complex waterfall in the background, the whole image is calming because of where you positioned the waterfall in the frame, and how you've edited it in the black and white. Great job.
This image is fantastic. I don't think I've ever looked at a photograph and actually gasped out loud before. What's so incredible is how the entire image is dark which forces the viewer to fixate on nothing but the waterfall itself (and the dabs of colour around it). The mist adds light to an extremely dark photograph, and a dimension of wonder and mystery. The waterfall is relaxing, but I don't know why. I'm happy not knowing. Some brightness in the foreground pebbles helps draw the viewer into the photograph, and right above the waterfall there's just a touch of bright cloud suggesting that sunshine is on the horizon - which fills me with hope. Excellently done. Congratulations on a well deserved 1st place.

Sitting next to a waterfall is a universally relaxing experience. The idea behind this contest is to pay tribute to the calming waterfalls we know and love (and those we haven't seen before!). For this contest you will need to take the camera off auto mode and experiment with longer time intervals to create soft, flowing water. Show the community just how peaceful a waterfall can be!

This image was my 11th choice. Agonisingly close to the top 10 and I wanted to review it because it was such an enjoyable image for me personally to look at, and it deserved some kind of greater acknowledgement than just a commendation. The best thing about this image is how the log takes you down the river (helped by how low you've kept the tripod) towards what is possibly one of the most spectacularly grand waterfalls I've ever seen. Your post production is seamless and not over-saturated like many images submitted. The mist rising off the waterfall gives such mystery, and the colours in the trees round out what is one of my favourite images of all time. Well done.

This image really brings out the tranquility I was hoping for in my brief. I found the composition extremely inviting. The subject is beautiful with the apex of the corner (before your eye reaches the waterfall) beautifully coloured in light blue and green tones. The shutter speed compliments the flow of the water and doesn't blow out the detail too much. The aperture you've used kept the entire scene sharp and there is clear detail from corner to corner. Editing has been done wonderfully and not to excess. This is a really impressive image.
This is a fantastic image which immediately jumped out at me. The first part of the composition I noticed was the diamond shaped flow in the foreground which led my eye up to the wonderfully vibrant rocks and finally, to the visual payoff in the main waterfall. The reason I think the subject is so compelling here is the perspective you used by staying so low to the ground and shooting upwards. Also the colour editing you've done is excellent.
