This shot has serious drama! We love the contrasts of colour, detail and texture complemented by the strong leading lines producing a clear direction to the shot. The classic hot and cold colour pairing really adds depth, while the use of the long exposure generates a feeling of energy and life. Nicely framed and shot, well done.

Using a long shutter speed is a great way to inject some energy into a photo. Using an ND filter or the long exposure feature on your smartphone capture anything from a fine-art landscape to an abstract portrait. Surprise us!

There is a lovely tranquil atmosphere to this shot. The colour palette is muted but still offers depth and contrast - the yellow and blue work perfectly together. If a shorter exposure had been used there may have been too much detail in the water, vying for attention with the structures, but the longer shutter speed has softened this. Very nicely done.

This is a classic shot executed to perfection! The composition is nicely arranged, despite the strong exposure effect, maintaining the use of the rule of thirds, even if this is subtle. The result is a colourful and energetic shot, which offers the ideal balance of abstraction and familiarity.

This image has a lovely fine-art atmosphere to it. The composition is simple and classic and we love the sense of direction to the framing. Once again, the use of long exposure merely complements an already well-considered shot and adds another layer of interest and drama. Very nicely done.

In many cases, photographers will use long exposure techniques as a means of creating missing drama. While this may have helped here, the true strength of the shot comes from the solid composition behind the effect. The landscape has enough to justify a shot already, so the use of long exposure has simply added an extra element. Very nicely seen and structured.

This is a wonderfully composed yet brilliantly simple shot. The use of long exposure is subtle but effective and we love the way the smoke from the chimneys seems to blend with the cloud. The arch of the vapour also creates a natural frame for the pylons. A true urban landscape. Well spotted.

This is an exceptionally atmospheric shot. We love how the long exposure doesn't feel like the main reason for shooting the image, rather a practical necessity of working in such low light. The colours are nicely muted and the softness of the water adds to the overall tranquil feel.

The colour contrasts here work brilliantly, while the juxtaposition of hard and soft textures in the water and rock is classic. The eye is drawn to the brightest part of the frame, so the composition has a lovely sense of direction, pulling us into the scene. A wonderful landscape!
