Great contest!

This is fabulous! An absolutely pin sharp image of two very fast moving subjects. I love the energy and the happiness shown. Such typical sighthound behaviour. I can't make up my mind about the horizon, being a beach I almost want it to be straight, but I would be reluctant to change the angle of the dogs - I think you have the right compromise. Congratulations - I love it ...

I just kept coming back to this one - if I'm completely honest there is a part of me that doesn't want to like it! At first glance I found the whole image just too busy - but then I stopped and really looked. The foreground is fantastically sharp and I love the way the attention is on the two eyes, one dog and one human. The soft background puts the whole scene in context. If I were to be super critical I might suggest softening, or even removing, the somewhat distracting red object above the person's shoulder. This image made me realise that first impressions are not always right. The more I studied it the more I appreciated it. Quite brilliant! Thank you.

This is a wonderful shot - I have tried to capture lurchers and whippets hurdling so many times but not as well as you have caught this one. The dog is pin sharp and I love the focus in his expression - he/she also happens to be a very attractive subject! It is very difficult to achieve such perfect focus when the subject is coming straight towards you - really well done.

I love this - it is just so .... 'lurcher' You have really captured the sheer joy these wonderful dogs find in everything. The subject is very sharp but without losing any sense of movement. I also like the complimentary colours. A very well executed photo.. Congratulations, I love it!

What a beautiful study. This, to me, captures the gentle nature and loving character that these dogs so often display. The depth of field is excellent - the 6.3 aperture means the nose, and eyes are perfectly in focus but the subtle background colours don't dominate the image. Being really picky, I might try to remove the slightly distracting clip in the bottom right hand corner. I would have this on my wall.

I have to be honest and say that I, personally, am not a fan of track racing. However, this challenge is not about my preferences and I can't let my opinions cloud my judgement. Technically this is superb. It is so difficult to get even one, let alone two, fast moving subjects so perfectly focussed when they are coming straight towards you. I wonder if cropping just a little off the top would benefit the overall image. I realise the stalls are part of the story but I find the background just a bit distracting. A very well executed image. Thank you.

Being a proud owner of a big, hairy lurcher, I would love to see your photos of lurchers, whippets and greyhounds. Either showing their athletic ability or their ridiculous 'resting' positions. Colour or black and white, I would love to see them all.
