I'm always fascinated by the tiny bubbles that form on surfaces as condensation. From the great big blobs down to the tiny little ones that are forming in between.
The way that the light catches them and the reflections you can create are infinite and mesmerising to study up close.
It is a difficult task to capture these tiny water droplets with a macro lens. Positioning a light source so that it is just right and ensuring the camera is in the right place takes time and patience. I would have liked to have seen some of the bubbles with a sharper focus to see all that detail that we miss with the naked eye.
When I'm shooting this type of subject, I find that adding a 2x teleconverter to your Macro lens allows you to get closer and capture more detail, I think that this allows you to see those really teeny drops in much greater detail.
Great work, I will be looking out for your profile.
I absolutely love this photo and would like to see more from the series. Frogspawn is something that many of us see every year, but we don't get that close, so to see this level of detail on something so small is fascinating and utterly beautiful.
I spent quite a while just looking over every inch of this photo, examining details like the membrane between the cells, and looking at the way the light has caught the tadpoles. It's like looking into an alien world.
Well done for rescuing the frogspawn and for taking the time to capture the beginnings of frog life in such detail.
You have done an excellent job of lighting the scene and getting a sharp focus. A well deserved first place.
A beautiful capture of nature in action.
The frost on this bubble is feather-like in its growth, as it appears to fan out from nowhere on the surface creating intricate patterns in ice.
Your photo is beautifully sharp on a big screen with a great depth of field, which really makes it stand out.
Congratulations on your top ten placing.

I am really not a fan of spiders, but this photo really caught my attention, made me sit back from my screen just a little, then peer forward to see those horrible hairy legs just creeping over the surface.
What a great concept for an abstract photo. The contrast between the black and white line with the black legs creeping into the white space gives it a simplicity that makes it stand out.
Congratulations on your top ten placing.
There is so much going on in this photo!
I spent quite a long time just looking all over it, examining the little planets on the left to the copper coloured metallic detail in the centre that reminds me of a steampunk character.
It is a photograph that really needs to be seen on a large high-resolution screen, or printed on a huge canvas so that the beauty of the detail can be seen in all its glory.
Your choice of colours along with the mediums that you mixed to get these effects are well chosen and you have captured it perfectly.
Well done on your 2nd place.
I love the way bubbles and waterdrops capture reflections of their surroundings, so when I see a group of them together like this, with each and every one having the exact same image showing, it always stops me for a second to take a more detailed look.
You have captured this beautifully, great focus and the bubbles are nicely sized and spaced to give a good balance across the picture.
Congratulations on your top ten placing.

Macro abstract photos tread a fine line between the artistic and the scientific; one that leaves the viewer thinking "What exactly am I looking at?". These photos have an intriguing and mysterious quality due to the fact that, instead of showing a complete scene, the photographer uses macro elements to create a pleasing (albeit confusing) whole. Mastering the art of shooting great abstract photos can be a challenge, but the results are more than worth it.
This photograph is simply stunning!
Individual snowflakes are one of natures' truly fascinating abstract creations, each and every one is completely unique and here you have captured a single flake in all its clarity and beauty.
Sharp focus, amazing detail - a wonderful view on an icy world. Congratulations on 3rd place.
