What better subject for a portrait than one that doesn’t move, get impatient when you’re fumbling with your camera, or need buying lunch as a thanks for their time? Mannequin photography occupies some strange hinterland between portraiture and still life, and can say just as much about our culture more generally, as it does about the world of fashion that brought about the mannequin’s existence in the first place.
