What an unusual fan. I haven't seen many double-bladed fans and this appears to be antique. I enjoy the details behind the fan blades and also the four stout legs of the base. I can imagine sitting in that room with the fan blowing air towards me while I read a book or enjoy the view through the window. Thank you for your entry.

I love retro fans, and this ceiling fan clearly has been working for a long time! A real workhorse I imagine finding in a shop or perhaps barbers. I enjoy the deep textures and the base and wire. Captured beautifully, the motion of the blades provides a sense of cooling. Thank you for your entry and well done on second place.

This contest is for your photos of electric-powered mechanical fans that you might find in your home, place of work or any environment where the air is circulated to produce a cooling effect. A fan consists of a rotating arrangement of vanes or blades which act on the air. The fan can be made of any material such as plastic or metal but must be electrically powered. Fans are elegant and intricate machines, so entries should show only the fan. Both colour and monochrome entries are welcome. This beautifully sharp, multiple-exposed image of a mechanical fan is stunning. I enjoy the head-on perspective and how the photographer has used lighting to highlight just the main blade casing of the fan. The image contains the fan blades both stationary and in motion while also revealing the inner details of the screws and components.
