Great contest!

There were a number of lovely photos of the great Tommy statue, but this one stood out the most to me. The angle of looking up at him, almost gives the impression that he has promised to keep you safe. You composite work is well on point, also, down to the lighting on the Union Jack and the poppies below. Nice work!

Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful image, and your moving story - I had hoped folks might do just that, and yours is incredibly special. I imagine this photo is one you treasure. Your composition is great also, with the sun shining on your items, and the ships wheel that they are set on (the wheel of time?).

This shot is beautiful. You found the perfect angle to capture the scene on a nice day. I am a lover for angles and geometry, so this one grabbed my attention quickly. The serene water, bright blue skies, coupled with the expanse before you really is such an amazing contrast to the wreckage that was created there not that long ago. Thank you for sharing this!

I really like what you have done with the juxtaposition here - from the tonal quality of the graves, to the cross shape that the girls face appears in. I am not even sure if it is a reflection you caught, or composite you made. Either way, it is a great capture of the emotion being felt by a young person experiencing deep loss for the first time. It draws me in, and makes me want to talk to the girl and have her share stories of the one she is mourning.

Most of us have visited, or perhaps even created, memorials in honour, or memory of people and events. Whether it is the Vietnam Memorial, the 9/11 memorial, or a small personal memorial you've made in your own home - we are interested in seeing your photos of these spaces and sites that have meaning to you.

I had hoped with this contest to perhaps see stories of what folks photos mean to them. Thank you so much for sharing your image, and accompanying explanation of what is taking place, and your experience. I think you captured the sentiment of the crowd excellent in this photo. I do hope folks got home safely!

This is a perfect catch. It appears to be a mourning dove (could be a pigeon I suppose, but let's go with mourning dove) taking his place next to a poppy cross memorial, all set on frosty grass, and lit just right. I was drawn to this one because it conveys so much in it's subtle simplicity.
