Thank you Tony for joining my “Minimalism in Still Life” contest and congratulations on your second place! A minimalist still life that attracted my geometric soul by the fantastic play of black and white diagonal lines and by the mysterious presence of the needle. An unusual interpretation of this theme, with a result that reminds me of certain works of the abstract art of the early 1900s. Given my passion for minimalist synthesis, I would advise you to cut the photo above, to eliminate the upper side of the cube, a reference to reality: in this way the image would be much more abstract and graphic. Would you like to try?
Thank you Peter for joining my “Minimalism in Still Life” contest and congratulations on your 5th place! An intriguing, and a bit distressing, minimalist still life. You had a great eye to see the potential of these scene, where the mask comes alive by the light entering through the window. Its empty eyes look towards the outside, as if to escape from this prison. With a touch of nostalgia, this is a very catching image.
Thank you Chris for joining my “Minimalism in Still Life” contest and congratulations on your 10th place! Very effective minimalist composition, I like the point of view and the use of the dof to isolate the flower, whose red stands out beautifully against the white background. When I saw your picture, I thought, "But this photo is mine!" In fact years ago I had photographed an identical subject: same shot from above, same red gerbera, same white background, (perhaps) same white little vase ... :-)
Thank you Chinmoy for joining my “Minimalism in Still Life” contest and congratulations on your 6th place! This black still life is very elegant and minimalist. I love this diagonal composition where the branch comes out of the shadows, only a small detail that defines the whole subject. The sun that caresses the roundness of the vase is very effective. A black and white picture where the backlight creates a pleasant graphic effect.
Thank you Adam for joining my “Minimalism in Still Life” contest and congratulations on your 4th place! A very stylish and minimalist still life, where a frame, divided in two, brings together two mundane subjects. A mysterious light illuminates the plant in backlight and is reflected on one side of the watering can There is a contrast between the thin graphic of the plant and the shape of the watering can.

Thank you Wendy for joining my “Minimalism in Still Life” contest and congratulations on your 7th place! In this still life, you have found a way to make simple things very elegant. An interesting point of view with the two crocuses in opposite direction. A lovely use of textures with very delicate color harmony. A cold mood: the flowers seem to be imprisoned in a sheet of ice, maybe the spring is still far away…

I would like to see your best minimalist still life photos. Still life is a collection of inanimate things, like objects, flowers, fruits or vegetables. Minimalism is an artistic style where the subject is reduced to only its necessary elements. Please arrange your composition with elegance, simplicity, creativity and originality, using good lighting and framing. Entries can be in colour or black and white. Remember that with minimalism, “less is more”.
