Minimalist landscapes

In association with PhotoPlus

Open Rating Results
Brief

In this Canon-only contest, we’re stripping landscapes back to the basics and want to see your best minimalist shots. Try to get maximum impact out of simple landscapes or seascapes without over cluttering the frame and instead adopt a ‘less is more approach’. While you don’t have to settle on just a single focal point, having a lone tree, lighthouse or single windmill for example can work really strongly. Put your emphasis on the tone, colours, mood and composition to make every aspect of your shot work as hard as possible. Black and white often also works well with these types of pictures so don’t be afraid to submit these too. Get creative and submit your shots for a chance to win a Manfrotto Pixi Evo tripod and be featured in an upcoming issue of PhotoPlus magazine: the Canon mag.

See the 'Brief in detail' tab for entry criteria.

The winner will receive a Manfrotto PIXI EVO miniature tripod worth £52.95. The judge's top ten images will also feature in a future issue of PhotoPlus magazine.

The brief in detail

DO: Ensure your photo was taken on a Canon camera. Have EXIF data in your photo (or supply the camera settings in the info section). Provide a title for your photo. Write a description of the photo you're entering of at least 50 words to give us the background of what the image is of and how it was taken. A little context can go a long way! Check your photo has a resolution of at least 3000 pixels on the longest edge of the photo as we will be printing our top picks in PhotoPlus: the Canon magazine.

DO NOT: Have a watermark on your photograph. Supply images taken on camera systems other than Canon. Submit low-resolution pics

Prize details

The winner will receive a Manfrotto PIXI EVO miniature tripod worth £52.95. Compatible with lightweight DSLRs and mirrorless cameras the PIXI EVO can handle up to 2.5kg of equipment and has two leg angles for extra stability on uneven ground. It's ideal for photographers who love to travel light or even looking for a nifty option to mount your flashguns off-camera. The judge's top ten images will also feature in a future issue of PhotoPlus magazine.

How it works

Every photo submitted will be available for the crowd to rate once the submissions period has ended. You can see all the images uploaded to a contest, but will need to rate them to see how they’re ranked once the rating period begins.

Some contests on Photocrowd also have a judge. After the submission period closes the judge chooses their favourite images and writes some image reviews. The crowd and judge results will be announced on the same day.
