Morocco

I didn't have this in the top 10 to start with. But after my intial gradings I revisited all of the shots with fresh eyes and this was one I promoted.

It is such a clean scene and superbly framed, - both of which are elements I try to incorporate in my own photos so really struck a cord with me.

This is such a wonderful photograph. So many interesting elements take the viewer through the scene to the main ubject. I would expect the souks of Morocco are very busy choatic places but the subject here has found a quiet contemplative spot.

The exposure and toning are great and this photo transports the viewer right into the souk either today or some time in the past. Excellent travel photograph.

This is a really interesting scene, expertly shot and in great light. I really like the shot so was happy to include it in the top ten.

It felt a bit too posed to be included in the top three but realise that can be difficult in practice and still a tremendous image.

There were number of shots of the desert dunes entered into the competition and plentys of very nice images. This one was my favourite..

I liked the fact it was such a clean scene and the use of the longer focal length really helped emphasize the shapes and light in the dunes. I also think it was a good decision to exclude the sky as this helps highlight the subject and simplify the photograph.

It was difficult to pick a winner as the standard was very high. I loved the creativity and originality of this street photo. I am guessing the photographer had a few attempts to get this right but in addition I was really impressed by the attention to detail of taking the care to line up the stones on the perimeter of the image.

I loved this photo and could have easily been the winner. The main subject of the hooded figures is fabulous, mix an air of mystery and terrific colours. I did wonder if I might have cropped out the shadow but really like it as it is and hekps to balance the image.

This is a great photo, a really interesting scene which looks fantastic with the light rays streaming through. I did feel that the shadows were lifted too much and made it look unrealistic otherwise it would have been in the top ten. Still a lovely shot and highly commended and also realise this is a matter of taste.
