Congratulations on an excellent image and so refreshing to see a great B&W image.

This image has so many elements that harken back to the masters in the early to mid 1900's.

As I mentioned in my review for the winning image - this image meets my most important criteria by making me pause and consider and engage.

Thank you as well for not posting a story to go with the image and allowing me to create my own story.

Just a thought as I "re-imagine" this image through my eyes. If you are not opposed to some Photoshop manipulation - I think it may be very interesting if you were to extend the water horizon to the left and eliminate the sweeping piece of landscape that come sin from camera left - so that the rock formation and stairs are against water that goes to "ho knows where?"

Regardless - great work. Congratulations!

Excellent image - excellent composite! Since the contest theme is "My escape" and the contest used the dictionary definition which defines escape as “an act of breaking free from confinement or control” - this image wins my praise for several reasons.

  1. A successful image for me is one that will make me pause and consider. I am primarily a portrait photographer who also seeks engagement with my subject. Without a face or eyes for me to engage with, your image is done in a way that forces me to engage with it and consider its meaning and what is happening – all while being fun and playful and colorful.

  2. THANK YOU for NOT providing a story behind it or telling me what your concept is.

As a creator when you show your work to the world you must to be willing to let each person who views it have their own unique experience with your work. The fact that photo contests like this encourage people to write the story only leads to desperate attempts by people who submit random photos and try to create a storyline that ties the photo to the theme. You allowed me to have my own experience with your image and create my own story and I appreciate that.

I would have preferred not even seeing a title - but I realize the website makes you enter one.

  1. Your image shows real creativity on multiple layers - concept, visual layout and visual feel with well thought out elements. It is not another fortuitous landscape photo of an exotic location where someone happened to be in the right place at the right time. Not that making a great landscape shot doesn’t require skill and creativity – but it pales in comparison to an image that is created strictly from the mind.

It is my hope that you entered this contest for the sole purpose of winning the Interfit Honey Badgers – which are awesome lights. I sincerely hope that you did not enter as a habit or for confirmation of the quality of your work. Your work is far beyond entering amateur photography contests on websites that charge money and make money from people who will enter the same photos over and over and over again.

Congratulations and best of luck!

Congratulations! It is so awesome to see creative and interesting imagery being created with a drone. Indeed the best camera is the one that you have and this vantage point gives you a unique - bold and very graphic view.

Thank you for not providing a story and title - as I discussed in my review of the winning image.

I am a fan of black and white and I love the dramatic sky - however the over sharpening that creates the white halo around the subject is unforgivable. I hope that you won't abandon the shot - Google "How to remove the white halo in Photoshop" and you will find plenty of tutorials to resolve the issue.
