I was hoping for a "beaver" nature made image and this one is a great example of how nature creates a home for every living thing, the Beaver builds a home, the stream is slowed down creating a slow running stream below the dam and a deeper area of water above, from tiny insects to bears, they could easily be at home here and the image for me tells that story, very well done on 3rd place.

This is an unusual image of a natural habitat but yet it's an eye opener, one would not have thought about anything living in the icy kingdom of a glacier, the image is very well taken with a super conversion showing the cracks and crevices perfectly. Very Well done with your place in my top ten.

Although there was some great images entered many were landscapes, lakes and some untitled,if photographers don't read the brief i only judge those that do. Back to this superb out of the box image, this image caught my eye , I've been on the sand laying down taking images and been surprised at the wildlife that inhabit it ,this shot itself is well taken by the photographer with perfect b&w toning and for me is a deserving winner, well done on my 1st place. Very well done.

This is a super image, plenty of water and sunlight and lots of thick undergrowth. The image for me is very well taken and converted to b&w and I can see the photographer put some effort in getting this just right with beautiful tones and clarity. Very well done on a top ten placing.

This image for me screams "natural habitat"' fallen rotting trees ,little nooks in tree stumps and dead wood everywhere, from tiny bugs to mice and birds this is a perfect home for them, I think the photographer had an uneven trek to this spot but the result is worth it .the b&w conversion is nicely done and the whole image a lovely appeal. Very Well done on my top ten.

This is a super frame filler,I love the hanging moss with the light streaming through and the different layers of vegetation from firns to undergrowth , the occasional sunshine added with natural moister at the floor of the woodland makes a great habitat for wildlife and looks totally undisturbed, a super image and worthy of my 2nd place. Well done.

BLACK AND WHITE ONLY. For this challenge I would like you to get out into the countryside and look for nature-made " Natural Habitats" . Nothing man made, no people, insects or animals, just the places they live in. Nature has a way of creating these places, you just need to find them. This contest is not about great landscapes or great lakes, and please, no photoshop images - keep it natural. I require a title and a description to be written to accompany each image. Good Luck!

What's not to love about this image, a tiny seed has found its way to an old rotting fence post and managed to germinate in to a little sapling. It for me is beautifully photographed and processed and the photographer has entered an image that shows how nature takes care of itself and has created a tiny habitat for the sapling and the insects that live in the cracks. Very well done on a top ten place.
