Nature fights back

It was tough to choose a winner from so many superb entries but the original setting, wonderful light and composition in this image really caught my eye.

It really feels like nature has grown around this derelict so I also felt it really matched the theme very well. Congratulations, a deserved winner.

This abandoned whaling settlement on the barren landscape of Antarctica is really fascinating to see.

The fact that many of the buildings are damaged by the element fitted the theme well and gives you an idea of what it might be like to live out here. Super shot

This is a wonderful seascape and the gorgeous colours give the image a real warm feeling.

I also thought the use of very long exposure to flatten the water and focus on the boat made this image much more appealing to the viewer.

This was another very original image that I enjoyed looking at.

It is beautifully framed and exposed. It is not something I would have thought of shooting but I felt worked very well and therefore deserving of a place in the top 10.

This old rusting car on an abandoned area is a wonderful subject and fits the theme nicely.

While I like this image I did the colours had been over exaggerated to make them a bit unnatural. This is of course a matter of opinion but prevented me from ranking this image.

This image is stunning, with an intriguing subject and wonderful depiction of torrential rain that often happens in Japan.

I am sure it will go on and feature very highly in a number of competitions and while I would have liked to place it in the top ten, I felt it didn't fit the theme as well as other images.
