I love the feel of this image, showing this family in their surroundings with great composition using the rule of thirds. Whilst it may not have been possible here, a general 'rule of thumb' is to try not to crop out parts of the subject, so the image would have been even better had the adults full body been included.

The colour and composition works really well here, with the added bonus of a cheeky expression on this young Lion. The focus, depth of field and exposure is spot on and the eye contact helps to increase the aesthetics of this image. My only feedback would be to either crop the ears out entirely or try and include them in the original image.
What a stunning bird, which has been well captured and framed in this image. Whilst we can often be limited by the times we're out with the camera, the only way this image could have been improved would be if it were taken during the 'golden hours' as the light is often more aesthetically pleasing at this time.
I really like the framing of this image, with the furniture on the left acting as a natural frame rather than a distraction and the subject looking into the frame, drawing your eye in. Whilst it's often impossible to plan images with your furry friends as they never do what you expect, the only improvement I'd advise would be to clean up the background prior to shooting (I would have shifted the carpet on the right so it was out of the frame).

Welcome to Photocrowd’s ‘Animals’ contest for New Joiners! These contests are a chance for new members to introduce their photography to the community, and get a taste of how Photocrowd contests work. They can be entered by anyone within their first 28 days of joining Photocrowd. After 100 images have been submitted the contest closes and the Crowd will start rating the images. The Expert Judge will also be judging the images and writing reviews at the same time. All the winners, both Crowd and Expert, will be announced after 3 days of judging. Make sure you also check out our two other New Joiners contests - ‘People’ and ‘Landscapes’.
I really like the framing on this image, with simple lines from the plant making the Hummingbird really pop from his surroundings. My only feedback would be to exercise caution when pushing the saturation and contrasts up on your images in post processing as sometimes it can damage the image quality beyond a certain point.
I really like the colour and framing on this image, and whilst there may seem like there's a lot going on with the table framing in front of the chair, the subject still 'pops' and stands out despite this. Perfect focus on the face and it goes to prove that you don't need a top of the range camera to capture awesome images!
