A wonderful action shot of two gorgeous birds! Using a wider depth of field was a good call to ensure you had both birds in focus and the colours are gorgeous and natural. I would consider increasing the exposure slightly, but otherwise a well executed image!

What an awesome encounter! The composition works well with the Leopard running into the frame and the focus is spot on, despite the challenges of photographing through heat haze. I would consider increasing the exposure slightly on the Leopard and tree but otherwise, a lovely action image!

This image instantly captivates and catches your attention, drawing the viewers eye in from the Lions gaze. The composition is spot on and the shallow depth of field helps to isolate the Lion from the backdrop, paired with warm and aesthetically pleasing colours . A gorgeous image!

Grey Squirrels are often overlooked when it comes to photography, but despite the controversy surrounding them they can be fantastic photographic subjects as you've well demonstrated here. The colours are gorgeous and the composition works well! I would consider cropping in slightly from the right and if possible, cropping out the artefact in the lower left corner, but that's me nitpicking!

This image works incredibly well in black and white, with the low key effect really helping the subject and the eyes to pop from the backdrop. You can get a great sense of the character and personality of this dog which can be difficult to achieve in a single image! Well done!

I really like how abstract this image is, with a blend of nature and human influence. The textures and shapes are fabulous and the composition is spot on. With post-processing, sometimes less is more, so I would consider reducing the HDR effect slightly and increase the exposure a touch to bring some details out on the birds, but otherwise a great image!

It's definitely tricky to photograph through wires and fencing, so it's been achieved exceptionally well here! The shallow depth of field really draws your eyes in with the focus point perfectly on the eye and the subtle colour palette works beautifully.

Welcome to Photocrowd’s ‘Animals’ contest for New Joiners! These contests are a chance for new members to introduce their photography to the community, and get a taste of how Photocrowd contests work. Make sure you also check out our two other New Joiners contests - ‘People’ and ‘Landscapes’.

I really like the composition and atmosphere of this image, showing the interaction between humans and nature with the Yak moving into the image, drawing the viewers eye in. I would consider increasing the exposure slightly so that details are not lost in the foreground.

Photography through fences and wire can be challenging at the best of times but it's really been nailed here. Whilst it's impossible to remove all of the artefacts caused, using a shallow depth of field can minimise it and the focus has been perfectly nailed on the eyes here, drawing the viewers eye in. A lovely image!

The colours and textures in this image are simply divine and the animal itself acts as a leading line, drawing the viewers eye in. Photography with a phone can be difficult sometimes as it's not always intuitive on how to change settings, but this image could have been improved further with a faster shutter speed to reduce the motion blur.

'Never photograph animals or children' some people say... Photographing 3 rambunctious puppies would certainly hit home with this point! This is a well executed shot and the exposure and post processing is spot on, especially given the challenges of photographing dark subjects against a light backdrop.

This gorgeous, iconic image of the Camargue horses has been executed perfectly. The wide depth of field ensures that the horses are all in focus and the decision to go down the high key route works well, leading to an ethereal and artistic image!

A great, abstract image of a subject that many overlook when it comes to photography. The depth of field is great with the majority of the snail in focus and pin sharp which can be hard to achieve. It would work even better if the full reflection of the snail and more negative space was included for the snail to look into.

If a single image existed which could show the quirky personality of Goats, this would certainly be up there in the running. This image exudes personality and the colours, perspective, composition and exposure have been nailed. A great overall image!
