The light, colour palette and subject are divine in this image, really drawing your attention in and keeping it fixed. I love the shallow depth of field and the low angle and perspective works really well too, with the shadow almost acting as a leading line.

The shallow depth of field works incredibly well in this image, drawing your attention into the kittens face and eyes whilst avoiding any annoying distractions. The colour palette is gorgeous and you've avoided cutting the ear tips off which is often a common mishap when taking these kinds of images. A great job!

The colour palette of this image is really divine and the focus is spot on with a great, shallow depth of field. I love how you can still see the alligator under the water whilst some reflection is still maintained too.

Meet the expert judge

The colour palette of this image really emphasises the damp, autumnal atmosphere and your focus and composition is good, with the subject looking into the frame drawing your eye in. I'd recommend increasing the exposure slightly to bring out the finer details more.

You've nailed the focus here, with great separation from the background whilst still having enough depth of field for the entire peacock to be in focus. The exposure and colour palette are fantastic and the pose of the Peacock is really aesthetically pleasing.

You've photographed a heavily overlooked species and shown that you can still take an incredible image despite this. The colours, light and reflection really makes this photograph and whilst it may break the 'rule' of having your subject look into the frame, it works here and shows that these 'rules' aren't set in stone!

You've absolutely nailed the focus on this image and the exposure is spot on, with no blown highlights or harsh tones from the flash/light. The composition is appealing with good use of the rule of thirds and the fox is really isolated against the black background.

I love the atmosphere of this image, paired with a great early morning colour palette and a gorgeous main subject! The focus, exposure and white balance are spot on and the foliage helps to frame the Geese and draw your eye in.

I really love how this image integrates both wild and man made features, with the buildings and wires almost acting as a natural frame which draws your eye into the Macaques silhouettes. The exposure and focus is spot on which can be hard to achieve in poor light conditions.

I love the asymmetry of this image, with the fencing in the foreground almost acting like a natural frame to draw your attention in. I'd consider increasing the exposure of the foreground to bring out the finer details of the cows.

I love the original approach to this image: it works really well in black and white and you overcame the technical challenges you were facing. The focus and exposure are spot on and the depth of field works well too.
