New Joiners - Animals #518

July 2021

I really love the colour palette and symmetry in this image and the focus and depth of field are spot on. I’d strongly consider cropping in slightly from the lower right corner to make the peacocks neck and head more central.

I love the smooth bokeh in the background of this image, which makes the subject really pop and makes the details and sharpness even more pristine. The pastel colour palette is nice and whilst it doesn’t technically follow the rule of thirds, this guideline can be very difficult to apply to lizards and reptiles due to their sheer length.

You’ve captured a gorgeous pose of the flamingo in this image, with the pink really popping from the backdrop and great depth. I love the warm hues in the background but think this image could be improved even further with a slight crop from the left to make the subject look into the frame more.

I love the depth on this image and you’ve done really well in regards to the rule of thirds, with the subject looking into the frame nicely and drawing your eye in. I’d consider cooling down the image slightly with the white balance to make it look slightly more natural.

I love the depth on this image and how well the goat pops out from the dark backdrop. The focus and exposure is spot on but I’d consider straightening the horizon out which I think would work well, especially on the fencing.

I love that you’ve included the habitat and environment in this image, which gives the viewer good reason to explore and appreciate your image. Whilst it’s impossible to know if it would have worked here, try to get the subject to look into the frame.

I love the symmetry in this image with the subjects face bang smack in the middle of the image. I'd consider adding a subtle vignette to the image to draw peoples attention in even more and remove the distractions in the background.

I adore the colour palette in this image and it works incredibly well given the colour of the subject. He really pops from his surroundings and you’ve both the focus and depth of field spot on which really helps to remove distractions.

I love the pastel, muted feel on this image and think it works really well, however I’d consider increasing both the exposure and contrast slightly so that we can fully appreciate the finer details which are lost if the screen brightness isn’t turned up.

The perspective on this image works really well and the focus, depth of field and exposure are all spot on. I’d consider straightening the horizon slightly along with a subtle increase to the contrast to make the image pop even more!

Whether it’s intended or not, I find this image to be highly comical and engaging. I love that you’ve included the environment and habitat to give us context and the exposure, focus and depth of field are spot on. I’d consider cropping in slightly from the right to improve it even further!

Despite this image being taken in bright, difficult conditions I think you’ve still done a great job. The depth of field, focus and exposure are all spot on with no loss of detail in the dark cows but no blown highlights either. I’d consider increasing the contrast and decreasing the exposure of the sky slightly to make the image pop more.

You captured a great family moment here with the log and ducklings acting like a leading line and really drawing your eye in. The colour is lovely and it's clear you tried to increase the depth of field to include as many ducklings as possible!

The light and colours on this image is simply divine, with gorgeous pastel hues. You definitely made the right choice to include the detail as I don't think this image would have been anywhere near as striking with just silhouettes.
