New Joiners - Animals #526

August 2021

I love how well the toad pops out from his surroundings here and the colours are vibrant and eye catching. I would try to straighten out the horizon (down to the left) to ensure the image reaches its full potential!

What an incredible encounter this must have been! The composition is perfect with the subject looking into the frame and exposure is spot on. You've nailed the focus and depth of field without introducing distracting elements from the foreground and background.

You captured a great action moment here and the focus is crisp and sharp. The depth of field is good, ensuring nothing distracting is introduced to the image. I would be cautious when making selective exposure adjustments and advise that the overall exposure is increased to the image to make it pop even more.

I love the symmetry in this image and those piercing yellow eyes really draw your attention in. The focus is absolutely spot on, helped with the wide depth of field and I love the subtle purple hues from the cheeks.

The fact that this hummingbirds eyes are closed really adds to the atmosphere of this image, giving off a relaxed and laid back feel. The colours really pop from his head and neck but I'd consider cropping in slightly from the right to make him look into the frame more.

You've exposed this image really well with no blown highlights or lost detail in the feathers. The focus and depth of field are good and I like the slight motion blur in the wings. If this is a crop I'd recommend leaving some space on the left of the image so he has something to 'fly' into.

I like the subtle, desaturated feel of this image and the shallow depth of field really draws your attention to that striking eye. The focus is good and doesn't seem to be affected by shooting through the glass, so a great overall job!

I love the crisp detail on this image and the colour palette is really aesthetically pleasing and warm. The exposure and focus is good so I'd be cautious if you've applied sharpening to this image as I'd argue it doesn't necessarily need it!

I love how the foreground and rocks act as a natural frame in this image, drawing your attention into the 'main' sheep. Compositionally, it's very good with the subject looking into the frame and I like the grungy, 'desaturated' colour palette here.

I love the perspective and depth of this image and I'd argue it wouldn't work half as well if there was more detail in the background / a wider depth of field. The colour palette is warm and aesthetically pleasing and the focus is spot on!

It's great that you've captured this image with all of the subjects looking in the same direction! The colour is muted but natural and the focus is spot on! I'd consider cropping slightly from the right to make them look into the frame more.

What an incredible and ethereal image! The colour palette, focus and exposure are spot on and the framing works really well with the 5 main subjects meeting at a 'point' in the middle. When met with a high contrast scene like this, it's almost always best to expose for the subject so you chose well!

The focus is incredibly crisp on this image which I love and the red really pops. The depth of field was well selected to ensure the entire bird was in focus. Be cautious if you've applied desaturation to the background as it can be noticeable at the edges of the bird.

It can be difficult to capture both people and animals in a single image which has a narrative or is captivating, but you've really achieved it here. The focus is crisp and the depth of field is spot on and you really timed it to perfection!

I love the perspective and depth of this image, with the gorgeous surroundings being exhibited and the four cygnets, clearly our point of focus in the foreground. I'd consider straightening the horizon slightly to try and balance the image a bit more.
