New Joiners - Animals #580

June 2022

The composition is spot on here with the leading line of the bison drawing you into the image and good focus on the eye. I like the aspect ratio you've chosen and the colour palette is natural and aesthetically pleasing.

Capturing the personality and essence of your subject can be a tricky task with animal and wildlife photography but you've captured it perfectly here! This pooch comes across as cheeky and playful and I love your choice of framing and composition too.

You've used the foreground foliage well here to partially frame this image and draw you into this handsome racoon. The exposure, depth of field and colour palette are all spot on and the focus looks good. Try to ensure you have a faster shutter speed when photographing moving subjects to avoid motion blur.

The foreground plenty works well to partially frame this image and I love the expression on this gorgeous cub as it exudes a playful personality and nature. I would consider decreasing the exposure and white balance slightly but this is a personal preference.

Despite the background being heavily out of focus, I love how the green foliage still manages to frame this handsome kingfisher and draws you in. The focus is tack sharp but I'd strongly recommend using a faster shutter speed with wildlife to minimise the risk of motion blur.

I really love the composition and framing in this image, with the shallow depth of field isolating the middle duck whilst you still have context of the surroundings and a cheeky character in the background! The colour palette is warm and aesthetically pleasing with good exposure and focus.

Natural frames can sometimes be hard to come by with wildlife photography but you've shown here that it can be done! I love the negative space which instantly draws you into the main subject and I think it works really well with a centralised composition.

You've used the decking in this image really well as it acts as a leading line (or multiple!) drawing you towards the main subject. I think it works well in monochrome as it enhances the contrast and edges and makes those piercing eyes pop.

I love the shallow depth of field in this image which really draws you into that inquisitive face and beautiful amber eyes. I like the filter you've used as it adds to the image and the centralised composition works with the symmetry in the face.

I love how you've captured these flamingoes in context of their surroundings and the subtle contrast between them and the foliage makes them pop and stand out. Despite having some brighter spotlights you've avoided any blown highlights that would've otherwise been a distraction.

Centralising your subject in wildlife photography isn't always wise but when you have a form of symmetry or direct eye contact it can be the best option as you've shown here! I love the expression and with no distractions in the foreground or background you're instantly drawn into this comical character!

I love the desaturated colour palette on this image and the shallow depth of field ensures that no distractions from the water in the background are introduced, with great separation. The composition is spot on with the subject looking into the frame and drawing you in.

I love the symmetry in this image and comically it could work in both 180 degree angles depending on your preference! The exposure, focus and depth of field are spot on and the close crop works well to remove any possible distractions.
