Your high shutter speed ensured that the water and action was frozen but I love that there's still a small amount of motion blur in the wings, showing how rapidly the bird is moving. I would consider cropping in ever so slightly from the left but this is a personal preference.

I love how you've used the leaves in the foreground to perfectly frame this gorgeous cat along with the the warm, muted colour palette as it works well to emphasise the eyes and whiskers. I would consider increasing the exposure ever so slightly!

What a perfect reflection and the exposure is spot on, with gorgeous colour and light despite looking like it's a bright day! This image could also work with a crop from the left but it's not essential as the water leads you into the subject.

Gulls are often an overlooked species when it comes to wildlife photography, partially due to how much they split opinions, but they're more than worthy of our attention as you've proven here! Be cautious with your post processing to not overdo the saturation and colours.

The composition is great here with the subject looking into the frame and no cropped features. I like the subtle colour palette as it really helps to draw you into those beautiful green eyes and the shallow depth of field really emphasises the fine details in the eyes and fur.

The foliage in the foreground works so well as a natural frame and ensures that you're drawn in perfectly to the bee eater. I really like how consistent the colour palette is and you would expect it to distract away from the subject but it only enhances it!

I love the warm colour palette and light in this image and it really enhances the subject. The shallow depth of field ensures that there's no distracting elements to draw you away and you really nailed the exposure with no lost details.

The ripples in the water are quite textured and detailed and usually you'd expect this to distract away from the main subject but in this case it only seems to enhance the image. The centralised composition was a great choice too with the near perfect symmetry.

The colour palette and consistency across this image is gorgeous and I love how the water is whispy and smooth paired with the pin sharp eye and great intricate details. The composition is good with the subject looking into the frame and drawing you in.

The shallow depth of field works really well here to draw you into the image, especially that vibrant blood red eye. The focus is spot on and the fly on the eyelid only enhances the image even further, especially with how well it blends in until you notice.

This image works really well in black and white and I love how crisp and sharp the fur is, paired with great contrast on the eyes and nose. The composition is good and I love the direct eye contact which draws you in.

The strong contrast on this image works really well to draw you into that sublime and calm face. I would consider cropping out the bottom of the image ever so slightly to remove the darker patch on the floor but this is a personal preference!

Meet the expert judge

The foliage in the foreground paired with the log in the background acts as a partial, natural frame to draw you into the main subject. On top of that, the logs to the right of him arguably act as a leading line.

The blue colours on this butterfly contrast and pop so well against the warm background. When you're photographing subjects like this it's strongly recommended that you increase your depth of field to ensure the full subject is in focus from wing tips to the head.

You chose your shutter speed wisely to ensure the motion and water is perfectly frozen and I love the expression you captured on this handsome pooch! I would consider straightening the image out clockwise ever so slightly despite the lack of horizon.
