New Joiners - Animals #674

August 2023

I love how the petals and colours frame the spider perfectly. I would consider cropping slightly from the bottom right to get the subject to look into the frame more rather than being centralised and increase the contrast ever so slightly.

The light on this image is divine, especially with it leaking through the bill showing those vibrant oranges and pinks. I'd consider cropping in slightly from the top left to get the subject to look into the frame slightly more.

I love how well the colours pop in this image against the desaturated background and the pinks in the eyelids really draw you in. It's always easily said in hindsight but I'd have liked to see more space between the paw and the edge of the frame at the bottom but can appreciate this isn't always easily done in the heat of the moment.

This image works incredibly well in black and white, showing great contrast between both the horses and the lone aloitadore. The composition is spot on and the narrative is hard hitting, only being enhanced further by the caption and description.

The low angle and composition works well here and I love the mood of the overall image, enhanced further by the grungy feel of the post processing. Be cautious when making selective adjustments as this can show on the edges of your subject.

This image works incredibly well in black and white, enhancing the contrast and making the subjects really pop. The branches and surroundings act perfectly as a natural frame to draw you in and you've chosen the composition well with both subjects mirroring one another.

I really like the consistent colour palette in this image and you have framed it well to give great context of the surroundings. I'd recommend cropping in slightly from the right to remove the edge of the lily pad the frog is sitting on but this is a personal preference.

I really like the colour palette of this image and the composition is good with great depth of field ensuring that every subject is in focus. Be cautious with background replacements as these can sometimes show around the edges with detail like the feet.

I love how you've captured the foot elevating above the water in this image, with the water droplets being kicked off. The shutter speed was well chosen to ensure the subject was frozen despite the fast movement. If this is a crop I'd consider giving the bird more space to move into.

Whilst this technically breaks some compositional guidelines with the hyena looking out of the frame, I really like the image regardless. Be cautious with unwanted objects creeping into your image: I would crop in slightly from the bottom left corner.

The expression you've captured in this image is fabulous and comedic, whilst still having great shape in the hands and body. It works well with a centralised composition & the surrounding foliage acts as a natural frame to draw you into the image.

The grass works well to frame the image, both due to the contrast of colour but also the fabulous oval shape. The focus is spot on with every small detail standing out in the image, especially on the nose and face.

This image is truly fabulous! The movement captured with the slow shutter speed on the pigeons is really artistic and the framing achieved with the streetlights and building is spot on. Black and white works really well to add to the overall mood of the image.

I really like both the light and the framing on this image, with both subjects moving into the frame and looking in the same direction. Despite the slightly challenging light angle, you've handled it well with no lost highlights or lost details in the shadows.
