This image breaks the traditional composition of getting the subject to look into the frame but it goes to show you don't need to follow the guidelines to capture great images. I love the mottled colours on the feathers and the soft spotlight on the face.

Crowd and
Expert winner

The symmetry and composition of this image is absolutely spot on and you've captured the light so well. The colours pop without being over processed or over pushed and still maintain a natural feel. Great processing and a great image!

The perspective is fabulous in this image and the shallow depth of field really draws you into the eyes. Post processing is always a personal preference and whilst this image works well, I recommend having a more natural colour palette.

Smartphones are becoming more and more popular for their camera capabilities and you can see why! The depth of field works well to isolate the subject from the surroundings whilst still having great context of the area which adds to the narrative of the image.

The crack works well here as a leading line to draw you into the image and towards the subject. This 'pull' is enhanced even further with such a desaturated backdrop, which makes the red on the ladybird pop incredibly well.

Goats have character and you've captured this well here! Whilst one of the typical guidelines is to focus on the eye, this doesn't have to be followed all the time and I love the detail you've captured on the nose and chin here. I'd crop in from the top right to fully centralise the face without cutting an ear tip off.

The eye contact you've captured in this image is truly fabulous and really works well with the centralised composition too. The shallow depth of field helps to enhance the detail on the face and fur but I'd love to see the exposure increased slightly!

The branch on the left acts perfectly as a natural frame around this gorgeous fox cub. The light is gorgeous and I love how it hits the eyes ever so slightly to ad some depth. The composition is perfect and I wouldn't change a thing on the image!

It can be really difficult to photograph subjects with a lot of contrast in bright light but you've done as good a job as possible to balance the highlights and shadows. I would have considered dropping the exposure even lower to try and avoid any blown highlights on the edges but the detail you've captured in the shadows is great.

I like how you've captured a wider angle image here showing context of the surroundings. This image simply wouldn't have worked if you'd used a longer lens and featured just a single pelican. The waves add to the atmosphere and the colour is natural and aesthetic.

The simplicity of this image only enhances it and I love the two tone feel. The darker reflection frames the swan and the disturbance in the wake of the bird draws you in. I'd almost be tempted to crop in from the bottom right to get the bird to look out of the frame even more despite this going against typical compositional guidelines.

The shallow depth of field really draws you into those gorgeous, shining eyes and the surrounding foliage frames this gorgeous subject well. The consistent colour scheme is broken up well with the dark coat on the dog, which enhances the reflection in the eyes.

The framing from the surrounding trees works really well to frame the subjects whilst also adding some depth. This is enhanced further with a wisely chosen depth of field which ensures both subjects are still in focus. The colour palette is natural and really aesthetically pleasing.

The colours you've captured on this roller are fabulous: vibrant to the point of popping off the screen but still very natural and not over processed. I would consider cropping ever so slightly from the top left corner to get the bird to look into the frame more.

The spotlight you've captured on this image is fabulous! I'd even consider bringing the exposure down even more to enhance the detail being captured on the face and the contrast on the fur. The colours are lovely and aesthetically pleasing too.
