New Joiners - Animals #686

September 2023

This image has great context in terms of the surrounding urban habitat the subject lives in. The expression and pose you've captured is great but if this is a crop, I'd love to see the subject looking into the frame more to draw you into the image in a more powerful way.

I love how the foliage in the surroundings frames this handsome tiger and how well the subtle colours contrast against the greens and rocks. Centralising your subject isn't always advisable but due to the direct eye contact it works here!

I love the unique, low perspective you've captured in this image, with the ears almost hugging and framing the sides of the image. It works well in black and white to enhance the subtle details on the nose and fur.

The shallow depth of field really draws you into the face of the subject here and I like how well the fur, eyes and nose pop from the image. The composition is good and I like the simplicity and perhaps unexpected crop on the body.

Black and white images work really well to enhance contrast and detail, so on something like an elephant with such fabulous contrast in the skin it's a no brainer! I love how the branches naturally frame the individual to draw you in and the expression and pose.

The colours on this image pop so well and without being overly processed or oversaturated. The shallow depth of field ensures we still have good context of the surroundings without them being distracting. I'd consider cropping in slightly from the left whilst avoiding cropping any of the petals off or the flowers in the back.

Whilst this image may technically be asymmetrical, it's absolutely fabulous how you've captured it and can be difficult when you have several subjects in the same frame. Despite the bright light you've captured great colour and avoided any blown highlights.

I love the expressive pose you've captured in this image and whilst the surroundings are a little clustered, it doesn't detract away from the main subject and arguably frames it well. The depth you've captured from the foreground gives us a great perspective.

The colour you've captured in this image is truly spectacular and I love how you managed to get the colour in both the foreground and the sky. If this has been run through de-noise software, be cautious with how far you push the sliders as it can introduce artefacts to the image if you go too far.

The colour and light you've captured in this image is absolutely divine and I love how well the leopard pops from the image given the soft bokeh and lack of distracting elements. I would be tempted to crop ever so slightly from the left but this is a personal preference!

The colours pop so well in this image and the contrast between the head and eye draws you in really well. I like how you've used the surrounding foliage as a natural frame and despite the bright conditions you've exposed it well.

This image has fabulous context in terms of the surroundings and the image simply wouldn't have the same feel or impact if you'd filled the frame. The centralised subject works well and the buildings paired with the sky both frame and draw you into the image.
