New Joiners - Animals #689

October 2023

The colour spectrum you've captured in the web is incredible and I love the lighting catching the web along with the soft bokeh circles. I love how the spider is pin sharp with everything else gradually fading out of focus.

It can be ill advised to centralise your subject when we think of composition but when a subject is symmetrical and looking into the lens it works really well! I love the consistent colour scheme with the various hades of green paired with the water droplets.

It can be frustrating sometimes with 'photo bombing' subjects getting into your image, but in this case it adds to the image and gives the viewer more to explore and enjoy. The pose on the main bird is gorgeous and it's great that you included the entire reflection too.

I love how the horse frames the dog in the background, despite the horse clearly being the main subject it still adds to the overall image. The colours you've captured in the clouds is gorgeous and the image gives us a really good context of the surroundings.

I love the personality beaming from each subject and how well you've composed the image, which can often be harder when you have more than one subject with both being equally important. The colour scheme is warm and aesthetically pleasing and the shallow depth of field ensures the background isn't a distraction.

Both the adults and the tree work incredibly well as a frame in this image, drawing you into the centre and keeping you engaged as you investigate the various subjects and behaviours. I'd consider increasing the exposure ever so slightly but this is a personal preference.

The low angle in this image works incredibly well to engage you and you've captured such a great narrative in the image that the caption only enhances it further. The colour, light and depth of field are all spot on.

The brightness of the iris on this subject really draws you in and keeps you engaged in the image, especially in black and white. This is enhanced further still with the shallow depth of field and great focus on the face.

This image works really well in black and white, with even more mood being captured in the clouds. It also enhances the contrast and texture in the fur and foreground. Showing the subject in context of the surroundings adds to the narrative and makes the image better overall.

I love how well you've captured this image, with every water droplet frozen perfectly giving you a sense of both scale and also how fast paced this behaviour is. It works well with the closer crop as you can appreciate the finer details.

I love the composition on this image as it's quite unique and unexpected. I love how the foliage frames the subject and the detail on the eyes and fur is fantastic. I'd consider some chromatic aberration removal in post processing but it's not essential by any means.

The intricate detail you've captured in the feathers is fabulous and the colours pop so well due to how well they contrast against the background. When possible it's advised not to crop features off the animal but it's sometimes unavoidable.

You've exposed this image well, avoiding any blown highlights or lost details in the shadows. The shallow depth of field, paired with the relatively clean background works nicely as a natural frame to draw you in. This image could also work well in black and white if you're looking for something a little different.

The light and atmosphere in this image is truly fantastic! I love how you managed to capture some reflections and the image simply wouldn't be the same without the horn and shape showing on the musk ox on the left.

The light and colour scheme in this image is unexpected but it works really well. I love how the red on the breast pops from the image with the surrounded desaturation drawing you in. The eye contact is striking and the surroundings frame the image nicely.
