New Joiners - Animals #771

December 2024

The shallow depth of field in this image is truly fantastic, with the background branches and trees creating a natural frame around this gorgeous subject. I like the warm colour palette and the eyes pop so well with that catchlight.

You've captured some utterly beautiful light and colour here and I love the expression on this gorgeous hare with the ears in different positions. The focus looks good and the depth of field ensures we can appreciate the full subject without the surroundings being too distracting.

What a truly exceptional image. These are the kind of moments that happen in a heartbeat, and people are often guilty of zooming in too much rather than capturing the bigger picture. You couldn't have done this better: big bravo!

I really love how well the black and white helps this image to pop, enhancing the contrast and detail exceptionally well. I'd recommend you crop in slightly from the top left corner to remove that slither of sky peeping into the image.

I love how well this image highlights the effectiveness of camouflage, and yet that catch light in the eye really stands out from the image. I'd consider cooling down the colour palette slightly using your white balance to make the image slightly more natural but this is a personal preference.

What an exceptional capture! This image has such a fabulous narrative, without a single word ever being spoken, and highlights the contrast between humans and nature in a way few images can. It works well in colour with those vibrant colours on the boat contrasting well with the rest of the image.

You've got some brilliant separation of your subject here, even more so due to the contrast of colour with that beautiful orange popping against a sea of green. The composition is good with the subject looking into the frame, drawing the viewer in.

I love how much detail you've captured on the face and feathers and you're really drawn into that eye with the dark background contrasting well. The pose and eye contact during some aesthetically pleasing behaviour really enhances it further still.

The perspective here is unique and I love how it is enhanced with eye contact from a couple of the sea lions. I would consider changing the crop slightly, depending on whether this is already a crop or not, to focus in more on the central subjects or include more context.

I love just how much detail you've captured in the eye here, with so much detail that I feel like I almost get lost in them. The colour is lovely, although I feel this image would work well in black and white too.

I really like the composition you've captured here, paired with the strain shown clearly in the eye of the right sable. This image has the potential to work in black and white too given the contrast and dramatic nature of it.

The main subject pops so well in this image and I like how it contrasts against the darker foliage to the right. I'd consider cropping it slightly from the right to get the lion to look into the frame more.
