This photo captures a beautiful and powerful moment of interaction between two Macaques. The sense of connection is very strong in the image. The contrasting expressions between the subjects help tell the story of what's going on here. It's also interesting how the Macaque on the left is in shade while the other is lit nicely with golden tones. A fantastic and memorable image!
Sometimes it's all about the lighting and the direction of light. The angled or side light brightly illuminates the Cat and casts some pleasing shadows with a sense of depth throughout the frame. The piano frames the subject and provides diagonal and linear lines in the composition. The whiskers also come to life.
The downward looking perspective and wide angle of view make this butterfly image stand out from the rest. I'm glad the photographer placed the subject near the center of the frame as the flower stems all radiate outward from this central point. The color combination between the purple and orange tones also work.
This is such a dark and moody image of what I believe is a Hamerkop. The deep shadows and the rich, navy tones in the background augment the rather bland bird perfectly. The light hits the bird just right as the eye, bill, and breast are nicely illuminated. The tag on the leg also adds interest.
Now this is an intriguing image and so well done by the photographer while in transit. Powerful images usually tell stories of contradictions and that's exactly what I see here. The snail is crawling every so slowly on a glass window while we see the shape of an automobile behind it in the distance.

There's so much going in in this Pelican image and that's the exact strength of it. Each bird has a different posture and in all of this chaos there are lines and circles formed through the tangled web of shapes and angles. The vertical crop also allows some room at the bottom to include the reflection.

I'm not exactly sure what's going on in this image, but it definitely demonstrates the relationship between humans and pet birds. Combining the color of the bird in hand with the roses in a nearby vase is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The helpless and vulnerable pose of the bird suggests our influence with nature.
Using a high key or pushed exposure to render the background bright white works very well with the Brandt's Cormorant as a subject. All of the attention goes to the bird's amazing plumage and beautiful blue eye. The iridescent turquoise tones underneath the bill are also striking as are the white neck feathers.
