New Joiners - Animals #812

July 2025

You had great timing on this image with a lovely shape in the wings and feet, paired with such detail on the face. The eye shine and reflection is gorgeous and I like the centralised composition due to the symmetry.

The detail on the face and fur is fantastic and whilst there's some detail and 'distracting' elements around the leopard, it actually works well to show the camouflage in action. I'd consider converting this to black and white to give it more punch.

The contrast in the fur and face is truly brilliant here and really stands out, especially given the conversion to black and white. If there's fencing in this shot it's not noticeable at all given the shallow depth of field.

The contrast between the spider and those vibrant surroundings is gorgeous and it works well with a square crop. If it allows, I'd consider moving the spider more to the bottom right of the frame to give it space to look into.

I like the composition you've captured here with a clear intention of portraiture. Whilst the background does add a bit of contrast and detail which risks distraction, this is unavoidable with the lens you're using as it's wide open at that focal length.

Whilst the focus may have missed here, I still find the image to be engaging and aesthetically pleasing, showing that some technical mishaps aren't the end of the world! The composition is good with nice symmetry in the face meaning it was wise to centralise the subject.

The backlit dust adds a whole new level to this image, taking it from a simple image of the family to showing behaviour that we would've otherwise not seen. It works well in colour given the gorgeous, warm colour palette.

To say this was captured on a phone, it shows just how capable they are at taking truly fantastic images. The contrast between the subject and the beautifully vibrant surroundings really gives this image the punch it needs to draw your attention.

You've captured a wonderful action shot here which can be far more challenging than a simple portrait. If this is cropped in any way, try and bring back the feet into the image This is yet another candidate for black and white conversion too, not that it needs it!

What a dramatic and captivating image. I love the separation you have against the background and whilst there's a lot of contrast and detail, none of it distracts away from the main subject and only enhances the overall narrative and context.

This is a great example of how a slightly higher up backlighting can be used to create wonderfully artistic images. I love the whips through the mane and chin whiskers and there's enough detail to tell us exactly what we're looking at.

I love the narrative going on in this image, with great thought put into the framing and composition. The small flecks of colour in the eyes and the tea really draw you into the image and this is another example of a fantastic photo taken by a phone!

With so many subjects looking down the lens, this image has a great albeit slightly intimidating feel. I suspect flash was used here given the shine in the eyes so I'd consider converting this to black and white to see if it's enhanced further.

What a moment to capture! The shape on the horse is truly fantastic and being in black and white adds to the drama and intensity. If this is cropped and the surrounding area allows, try to give the edges of the horse a little more space.
