The steps work well as a partial natural frame in this image and I like the consistent warm colour palette. The composition is good with the subject slightly looking in to the frame, although I'd consider a very slight clockwise rotation to align the steps more with a straight horizon.

You've captured some brilliant lighting on this handsome leopards face and the contrast works well across the image. In spite of the slow shutter speed, motion blur is minimal and doesn't detract away from the image, although in the future I'd recommend a higher ISO to give you more speed.

You've captured a great piece of action here and whilst there's a slight motion blur on the neck, this only enhances the image. This could be a great candidate for a square aspect ratio with the bears head in the middle.

The shallow depth of field works really well here to isolate this gorgeous dog, enhancing the contrast on the fur and face. If this is a crop and the surroundings allow, I'd give the dog a bit more space to look into on the left.

You've captured some lovely bokeh in the background paired with lovely movement on the squirrel: this image is typically seen with the subject perfectly perched but it works well with the clear movement and shape on the limbs as it's moving up the tree.

This is a gorgeous portrait which works really well with the low key background. The composition is good with symmetry in the fae and body. It's always best to exercise caution with highlights in scenarios like this to avoid any blown elements.

I love the framing you've captured here and whilst it's not fully 'sharp', this is down to the heat haze rather than anything technical that you've done wrong. Other than shooting at a different time of day, you can't do anything to 'fix' this.

This image works well with a centralised composition given the good symmetry in the face and body. In future, don't be afraid to increase your ISO in order to achieve a faster shutter speed, whilst it hasn't caused any issues in this image it could if there was movement from you or the subject.

You've used the natural framing here expertly to draw us into the image and directly to the subject in question. It works in colour but I'd consider trying it in black and white too as it would enhance the contrast and isolation of the subject.

The low perspective works well here and you've captured a wonderful expression in the dogs face. The focus and depth is good to ensure we're not distracted away from the main subject and it works in portrait orientation but could also work in landscape, depending on the surroundings.

This image works well with the low perspective and wide angle as it gives us good context of the surroundings, adding to the narrative of the image. I'd recommend rotating it slightly anti clockwise to straighten out the horizon slightly.

You've captured a wonderful piece of action here and I love the shape on the foot. Whilst this is taken in a zoo, the only thing to give it away is the ropes. Be cautious with blurring backgrounds in post processing as this can be prone to showing artefacts.

I really love the symmetry and pose you've captured with these two zebras and the shallow depth of field really enhances the detail and contrast. I'd strongly recommend either reducing the saturation of the colour in the sky or alternatively trying it in black and white.

Meet the expert judge

You've captured a brilliant expression here and the colour on the face pops so well. There's so much in those eyes that it draws you in and keeps you fixated. I'd consider slightly cooling down the white balance but otherwise no other changes!
