You've captured great depth in this image with the main subject in the foreground dominating the image but still giving us some context of the surrounding habitat. The contrast and details on the rhino are really works well and makes this image a candidate for black and white too.

I love the layers you've captured in this image, along with such gorgeous, warm and autumnal colours. This handsome Red grouse pops so well from the image, whilst still camouflaging in, giving the viewers an opportunity to explore every inch of the image.

The vegetation around this lovely toad acts as a natural frame, surrounding him without distracting or drawing attention away. The eyes pop well and the composition is well thought out with the toad looking into the frame to keep us engaged.

The detail captured on this image is truly gorgeous, paired with great contrast against the bright background. The leaves and branches frame him well but you still have great separation, both due to the depth of field and the contrast of colours.

Welcome to Photocrowd’s ‘Animals’ contest for New Joiners! These contests are a chance for new members to introduce their photography to the community, and get a taste of how Photocrowd contests work. They can be entered by anyone within their first 28 days of joining Photocrowd. After 100 images have been submitted the contest closes and the Crowd will start rating the images. The Expert Judge will also be judging the images and writing reviews at the same time. All the winners, both Crowd and Expert, will be announced after 3 days of judging. Make sure you also check out our two other New Joiners contests - ‘People’ and ‘Landscapes’.
