A very colourful drone scene with lots of interest. Unfortunately there was no information with this image, but I'm assuming it's a drone image rather than a shot from a high building. Anyway, it certainly caught my eye while judging, with the saturated colours working pretty well for the scene.

What an amazing cloud and I'm glad there is a story behind this image because without it I might have thought it was a composite. The cloud is quite spectacular and the composition is very good with it being framed nicely above the road.

A great capture art the Blue Ice-Straights here and one with plenty to admire. I particularly like the blue toning and the detailed foreground and use of Depth of field. One thing I will mention though is always be weary of your horizon line, it's a little wonky here but can be straightened easily enough.

It's nice to see a night image this week and this one is a lovely example. I normally wouldn't like a reflection shot where the reflection isn't perfect, but I really love the bokeh effect in the water on this one.

This looks like a beautiful part of the world. A very simple but effective image with the winding road creating a fantastic leading line into the the shot. The image is well presented and the colours are naturally handled, well done.

There were a few mono images this week in the new joiners competition, but I felt this was the stand out one. The detail in this image is incredible and the toning of the monochrome is extremely well done, great job.

Another image with no info behind the image apart from the location, but its another shot that is well taken and processed and worthy of the top 10. Tuscany is a very well shot area, so it's nice to see a view which I've not seen before. I particularly like the slightly muted processing.

What stunning light on this gorgeous scene. This is a very impressive scene and it must have been stunning to stand there in person while taking the shot. I have to admit I would have taken this shot slightly differently and not included the foreground, but it is still a beautiful image. It might be worth trying a panoramic crop just above the white labels on the trees.

A beautiful sunset/sunrise river scene. I love minimalist images and its definitely the case of, less is more in this image. The beautiful misty light has been perfectly captured here and it''s nice to see the colours have been left natural in the processing.

Now this image certainly has a WOW factor, and it was a clear winner for me in this weeks new joiner competition. It's a stunning cloud inversion and one of my favourite images so far while judging these competitions. A beautifully simplistic composition with lovely light on the clouds, and of course the small copse of trees on the hill finishes the shot off perfectly. A brilliant capture.

This is such a well balanced and accomplished image and certainly one I'd be proud of if it was mine. Technically this has been handled to perfection, a beautiful range of tones which would not have been easy to achieve. The composition, textures and light work extremely well, congratulations on a superb image.

I love a good minimalistic shot and this is a cracker. The slight ripple on the water can sometimes be distracting in shots like these, but it works really nicely here. The twigs are really nicely framed and the rippled reflections work lovely, congratulations.

This image was very close to making my top 10. It's a very well composed shot and another fine example of how good phone photography can be in this day and age. I love the magenta tones in this one and the single white boat in the shadow of the mountain is beautifully placed.
