New Joiners - Landscapes #511

March 2021

Lovely reflections and the sun star is a nice touch! I'd have maybe liked to have seen a tighter crop to just include the church and surrounding trees as well, I reckon that'd make an awesome shot, if you get a chance to shoot there again give it a go! Overall a nice photo, with a feel-good factor!

I like this compositionally, and you've captured some great light beams however the processing is a bit heavy-handed. You've got some halos around the trees and the sky looks a bit unnatural. Definitely has potential with a softer touch during processing!

I really like this, although it's always tempting to boost the colours, especially with a belting sunrise/sunset I do think it is maybe a little oversaturated. The composition is spot on, the path leading to the tree works well and it's not cluttered so overall a nice image!

The water movement in this is great, I'd say the perfect amount to give a sense of drama but still retain some texture. Keep an eye on your horizons, photos with water in need to be 100% level, it's a really nice photo and overall you've made a nice job of it :)

A really nice simple image. I love the perspective, shooting down from ground level has paid off. I'm not usually a fan of blue skies but I think it works in this instance. Lens flare too, generally best practice to avoid it but it doesn't look out of place here.

Wow, what a beautiful photo. It's got everything! Wonderful composition, perfect water movement and a fantastic sky. It's great when a visit pays off. I've been here and it can be a brutal place when the weather's bad, luckily you've caught it on a good day and it looks trememdous! Well done.

A nicely composed image, it's got a lot going on. I like the colours in the larch trees, it contrasts nicely with the snow. I'd maybe have lightened the sky a bit as you've either used too dark a grad or darkened it a bit much in post-processing. Overall a really nice image, full of mood and loads to look at, nice job!

Nicely composed, the clouds coming in from the top edges lead your eyes to the centrally placed copse of trees and the frosty foreground looks great too. It could have maybe done with a small amount of clockwise rotation to level off the horizon but its a nice image!

A lovely moody image. Without the mist/fog, I don't think this would have the same impact but it looks fantastic. I like the way you've processed it too, cooling it down makes it feel really eerie, cold and atmospheric. Nice job.

When photographing reflections, it's really important to consider your composition. It looks like there was a nice sky there so by tilting up a bit to place the waterline centrally you'd have got the top of the trees in frame silhouetted with some sky above which would have made for a lovely photo!

Horizon levels are so important when including water in your image. It needs to be flat, it makes such a huge difference! I'd maybe have framed this a little tighter too, making use of the old pier as a leading line. Looks a nice place so if you're local give it a go next time!

Autumn in the Dolomites is really really beautiful, the colours in the Larch trees once they've turned is incredible. This is a really pretty photo, nicely composed and well processed. I like the path winding through too, really makes me want to go for a wander there! Maybe I'll check it out next time I go!

I'm a huge fan of reflections, and this looks wonderful. You've caught it on a really beautiful day. Still water has an almost magical quality, doubling your great view via the reflection. I'd maybe have desaturated the blue sa tad but that's just personal preference. Still a top-notch photo!
