New Joiners - Landscapes #512

Technically this image is brilliantly crafted from start to finish. Night images are extremely difficult to balance especially when there are strong foreground lights, but this shows all the traits of an accomplished photographer. Extremely well captured and thoroughly deserving of a top ten finish.

This is a lovely minimal landscape image and a clear winner for me in this weeks New Joiners competition. I love the fact that the light was so defused that this image is straight out of camera. A beautiful image and a worthy winner.

I definitely have some love for this wonderfully captured drone image. This is obviously an image that has been carefully considered with regards to the composition and light. I love the soft light, long shadows and vibrant colours at this unique location.

A lovely serene sunset scene which is made by the inclusion of the single swan. This image caught my eye while judging mainly due to the simple composition and vibrant colours. There is a nice balance to the image with its beautifully still reflections, I also particularly like the slight ripple in the front of the frame.

A beautifully captured sunset or sunrise image from Penang. I love the vibrant yet natural colours here, especially on those silky waves lapping against the shoreline. It's good to see the the colours haven't been saturated and left very natural, a very worthy top 10 image.

I can see this scene has taken a good amount of skill and fieldcraft to capture. The lovely soft golden hour light on this beautifully composed image really makes it an outstanding shot. This is a location I'd immediately want to visit upon viewing this lovely photograph.

Dramatic mountainscapes such as this one really do make me a little jealous. This has been expertly composed and captured, the detail in the shot looks outstanding. The soft low light has helped to produce a subtle colour palette and the shadows help to create nice depth to the image.

This was one of the only cityscapes in this weeks new joiner competition and it was one that was close to making my top 10. Captured during blue hour this image has some beautiful steely blue tones and a strong composition, well done and good luck with your assignments.

I love a well shaped lone tree and this one certainly caught my eye when judging. The composition has a great balance and the details are pin sharp. I believe this shot would also make a cracking monochrome image as it has everything I would look for when shooting black and white.

A technically sound woodland image which looks like it was shot on the edges of a golf course? This is a good composition with the two dominant trees framing the scene nicely. The light rays projecting through the mist is a lovely finishing touch to a strong image.

A beautiful play of light and shadows here on these stunning sand dunes. This shot has been really well composed with the strong curving shadow creating a perfect leading line into the image. It's a shame the photographer hasn't given a story behind the image as I'd love to know a little more about the shot.

This image was definitely one of my favourites in this weeks New Joiners competition. It's a very well considered shot and the panoramic crop works perfectly to balance the shot. The couple walking the beach are perfectly placed within the scene, and the gorgeous soft colours make this an excellent winter scene.

I absolutely love this image and the sense of atmosphere it portrays with the addition of the lone figure. The processing is tastefully done with muted tones and has a nice style about it. What really makes this image for me though is the sense of depth created by the hazy backdrop against the silhouetted lone figure.
