New Joiners - Landscapes #515

April 2021

Fantastic capture of some crepuscular rays, lovely colours in the sky too. I'd maybe have lightened the shadows a bit to balance the image out as the left side is a bit dark but it's personal preference, it's still a nice image!

Some great colours in the sky here, and a pretty much perfect reflection of them. I know it was shot on a phone so you've limited dynamic range but the foreground could have done with being a bit lighter, I still really like it and the sky is spot on!

This looks like a pretty nice spot to wander about with a camera, it's a shame you were short on time and had no tripod as I bet you could have spent hours there! I like the composition, I do think the colours are a bit strong and could have been maybe toned down a little but that's a minor point.

This has sort of an optical illusion element to it, as at first glance it looks like a small waterfall but then when you spot the walkway you see the true size. It looks great with the warm sunlight on it, if I was being super critical I'd have framed it ever so slightly wider to give the mountain above a little more room!

This is beautiful, I like the soft pastel colours in the sky and that soft sidelight on the stack. The sun catching the top edges of the pebbles works well too. I'd maybe have lightened the shadows a little in the bottom left but that's only a minor point. Overall, a really nice image.

I really like this, it's different from anything else entered and grabbed my attention immediately. That landscape is fantastic, looking at it makes me want to visit so I'm glad you took this and nice job! One minor critique, I'd maybe have cloned out the top balloon as it does distract a tiny bit!

A really nice shot, that sky is fantastic. It looks like a great place to explore and photograph. One minor point, this could have been shot at a much lower ISO as looking at the full resolution copy it's suffering from some noise and grain :)

I like the composition here, the mountain is framed nicely between the trees and clouds. I do think it's a little blue, you could have maybe warmed up the kelvin value a little and still kept the cold feeling, it's still a lovely photo though :)

I like the almost abstract quality of this, it looks apocalyptic, like a sunrise on Mars. The low lying mist shrouding the trees works well and you've composed it nicely. It's a shame there's a train power line running through but that's completely out of your control!

This is gorgeous, that water looks amazing! It does look like an idyllic place to visit. You've done a lovely job here, well balanced and nicely exposed. I love the sandbank shapes in the water too, it's always nice when the conditions mean you don't have too much work to do in the edit too!

This has so much potential, it's just really underexposed. If you boost the exposure it looks loads better. Compositionally it's lovely. It's so simple, the unmarked snow and low mist work really well. I honestly think had the exposure been correct on this it would have been in the top 3!

I like the pastel tones in this, it's a nice simple image and is easy on the eyes. If it was mine I'd maybe have cropped it to a 16:9 ratio taking off an equal amount of sky and foreground. There's a small patch of mud bottom right that leads the eye and the sky works just as well with a little off! Nice job though it's a pretty photo

A great shot with loads of atmosphere, it definitely wouldn't have the same impact with clear skies. I can totally relate to your feelings while you took this, it's amazing just standing taking in the view, camera in hand waiting for the perfect moment!
