New Joiners - Landscapes #572

November 2021

A pretty autumnal scene, the reflections in the canal are great. It looks like a nice place to wander about with a camera, have you tried going early morning to see if you can get some low mist on the canal?

This is a fantastic image, I love everything about it from the stormy sky to the bright rainbow and the multi-layered foreground. I actually think that a lightning bolt may have made it a little busy, this looks great as it is! Well done!

I like the use of shallow depth of field here, I'm guessing you've shot this at around f4 and just picked out the middle tree, it works well, the tree has nice textures in the bark and the background is thrown out of focus just enough to create a good level of separation.

Lovely colours here, sunsets are some of the best times to get out with the camera! Was it possible to get right down to the waters edge? I can't help but think you've missed a trick not getting the full reflection of that sky! Compositionally I do like this, it's balanced and it's also exposed well. Good job overall :)

This is a beautiful photo, it's got a fantastic sense of isolation. I love the processing, and the colours in the trees are really pretty. It's nice and sharp all the way through and is exposed well. Really nice job.

This is a pretty nice shot, I love the contrast between the lush greens and that moody sky. There's a bit of fringing on the high contrast edges but I guess with it being shot on a phone you don't have much control of how it's rendered. Nice composition, I like that you didn't cut off the top of the tree, it looks great.

I like this, the layers look really good and the soft sunlight hitting the hills works really well against the dark sky. You could have maybe got away with cropping a bit of the dark foreground off as it does dominate the scene a little but it's still a nice photo.

This is a lovely photo, it's nice to see a daytime shot from there with some sunshine, more or less all the shots you tend to see are from sunrise so it's always in shadow. Your horizon could do with being straightened a bit as it's curved due to the angle of your camera.

What a beautiful sky, ordinarily I'd suggest avoiding such a vast expanse of sky but with colours like these it can be excused! I like the row of houses too, it could maybe do with a bit of clockwise rotation as it's leaning to the left a little.

I'd love to see a full-size version of this, I bet it looks amazing. I'm glad you got your break in the clouds to capture this, it's a really spectacular scene. The Matterhorn totally dominates the skyline, it's a great looking lump of rock!

That's an awesome shot, the lightning really adds a special touch to it. good job controlling the highlights as well, not easy on a long exposure. The colours reflected in the water look great too. I bet you were chuffed to capture the lightning as well!

I think you've potentially got a really strong image here, I think with some more subtle image processing you could really bring this to life. The shadows are really deep and the highlights are very bright, if you could adjust these to even them out a bit and reduce the contrast I think it'd strengthen the image a lot! The composition is nice and the image is sharp throughout and it looks to be exposed well enough that you can recover the highlights and lift the shadows just fine!

I love the way the road snakes through the scene towards the hills, great colours in the grasses too. It's a shame you haven't uploaded a high res version of this as I'd love to see it full size. Nice job overall.

What an awesome view, it reminds me of being in the Italian Dolomites in summer. I really like the composition here, with the valley leading you towards the mountains. It's nice and sharp and exposed pretty well. I love that there are no vehicles allowed too!
