This is one of those vistas that I see submitted often to these kind of contest, and for good reason. There’s an otherworldly feel to monument valley that draws in photographers with it’s grandeur. This is a particularly nice example with some gorgeous light cast across the scene, catching on the clouds above. Although I like the panorama, the horizon is a little wonky and I’d be inclined to crop so the three main monuments are the focus on the composition rather than including those on the right hand edge. Atmospheric capture.

This is a beautiful rendition of a classic scene and demonstrates understanding of how to create a compelling composition and use the conditions to create impact. This is even more impressive as it’s shot on an older model of Apple’s iPhone, demonstrating that the best camera is the one that you have on you. There’s a lovely contrast of blues and greens, from the sky to the turquoise waters of the lake below. The light helps to highlight the trees in the foreground and provides definition in the mountain peaks. An image that exudes atmosphere.

Love the atmospheric mood that you’ve captured in this shot. Misty woodlands can be elusive and you’ve certainly made the most of the conditions. There is something rather lovely about the angle of your shot, low to the ground so we move through the pathway through the archway of the autumnal trees. The warm tones add to the overall feel of the image. Nicely seen and captured.

The grandeur you've captured in this image is something else. You get a real sense of place and this enhances the notion that this was taken on a solo hike, nothing between you and the beautiful landscape. The angle of the shot helps to give a sense of scale to the scene, using the trees as a way to lead the eye into the mountainscape, shrouded in fog and mist. The processing is lovely, bringing some class to the proceedings and it's an image that makes me want to jump into the scene and experience it first hand.

There is something otherworldly about this vista. Although it’s somewhere on this planet, it could just as easily be taken on the surface of Mars. The red and browns permeate through the scenery, contrasting with the grey, shimmering peaks and the colour catching the clouds above. There is a sense of a storm brewing, tempered by the light breaking through the gathering clouds. The composition works well, using the natural slopes of the valleys to lead in the eye and the trees in the foreground adding a sense of scale. A majestic image.

This is one of those images that made me want to look deeper into it’s subject matter. It’s not the most technically proficient photograph (for example the highlights are blown in the top left) but some photos really don’t need to be about the technical settings because they’re much more about the moment. There’s a narrative here, a story that you’re telling. It makes me wonder how you’ve taken the photo from this particular angle. It makes me consider what the person in the image is thinking, and where he’s going. Do those horses belong to him and what’s his relationship to the mountains behind. I love images like this because they make me think and imagine. Thank you for sharing.

There is so much about this image that I really like. The light flooding the scene, the tips of the boats in the foreground acting as a leading line into the image, the boats on the lake and the mountains beyond. The dramatic sunset is reflecting beautifully in the lake, and even the sun flare, something I usually don’t like in images, adds to the sense of atmosphere. Alas, the image is let down by the prevalence of dust spots on the lens that, although it would be a bit of a task, could be removed and rectified in post production. It must have been a wonderful scene to behold.

It’s always nice to see an image of a location that it’s new to me and hasn’t come up before in these contests. Wide angle lens can be a struggle to control because you need to be mindful of what you include in the frame, however you’ve done a really good job of using all the elements in the foreground to lead into the church. There’s a natural mirroring of the sky in the marshes below, punctuated by the reeds and green of the grass. There’s plenty of interest in the sky although the blues look a little unnatural, likely due to a polariser or over-processing. That aside, there is plenty to like about this image.

I’m always drawn to snowy scenes, especially when the snow has recently settled and is fresh on the ground, untouched by anyone. There’s a feeling that you’ve still in the middle of the snow shower with those grey, gloomy skies above and the atmosphere is enhanced by the laden trees. It’s a clever idea to use the fence and a lead into the trees beyond, but this could have been even more impactful if you’d cropped out the cut off post in the bottom left. Still, this is a lovely scene to behold.

I’ve never been said huge fan of those ‘summer greens’ but images like this make me reconsider. There’s lots of variation from the fresh greens of the grass in the foreground, to the darker greens of the pines on the near and far shoreline. This greens contrast nicely with the blue sky and I like how you have used the pines to frame the mountain. Nicely seen and captured.

This is a classic image of Switzerland but that doesn’t make it any less beautiful. You’ve captured plenty of atmosphere in the sky, with those gathering clouds and framing it with the mountain peaks on one side and the trees on the other provides a sense of balance. The processing a little ‘muddy’ and I would recommend perhaps reducing the contrast a little so we don’t lose the buildings in the foreground.

This a rather inviting panorama of a magical location. The building is the main focal point of the image, but the choice of pano acts as a lead in to the section on which it resides. The sidelight catching the cliffs is glorious, providing some much needed atmosphere. The highlights in the top right are rather blown out which is a shame, but always a risk when including the sun in the shot. Intriguing shot and location.
